DisneySide Villains Party

Disclaimer: We received free products to host a #DisneySide Celebration from Disney Parks and Mom Select. All opinions of said products and fun using products are our own.

Last year I was one of many selected to host a #DisneySide @Home Celebration party and it worked out in conjunction with Lucas' 6th birthday.

Once again Mom Select and Disney put together some awesome party kits for another DisneySide @Home Celebration and we were again selected to host! The theme we received was the Disney Villains and our box came stuffed with goodies. Thank you sponsors!

Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the contents of our box before we took everything out, but besides invitations, decorations, plates, napkins, cups and activity print outs (bingo, trivia, word searches, matching game) for the party we also received several more items:
- nail polish and files with instructions for creating Maleficent and Ursula inspired nails.
- Disney villains 100 pc puzzle
- Mickey shaped cake pan, Duff Goldman Tie Dye cake mix by Gartner Studios, and sprinkles
- My Image Bracelet Maker
- HP Create Memories You Keep packs (photo paper/envelopes) - gave one to all the parents
- products from all and Wisk
- Twinings Tea variety herbal box (my favorite is the Orange and Cinnamon Spice)
- Disney vacation planning DVDs with luggage tags (one for each family)

I finally settled on a party date - Feb 16 when schools were closed for the President's Day holiday. Kayla had several friends over for our DisneySide @Home Celebrations Villains Party and the girls all had a great time - I'd say it was a success!

My attempt at the Maleficent nails

The girls really enjoyed the trivia questions; I read the cards while they were eating and yelling out answers.

Magical Disney Side Birthday Party

Disclaimer: We received free products to host a Disney Side Celebration from Disney Parks and Mom Select. All opinions of said products and fun using products are our own. You can see the products we received on my previous post.

The day of Lucas' party was finally here and I had one excited boy in the house! He was counting down the hours with about 4 hours to go. Then with under an hour to go he took a seat by the window to wait for his guests to arrive. Oh the anticipation for his 'friend birthday party'!

The kit we received for free to host the party helped with all the planning and decorating.

We had the runners' cheer cards from ESPN ready to go. Joe used stencil to put guest names on each card and we had them set out on a table with markers, colored pencils and stickers for them to decorate when they arrived.

I had an old plastic bowling pin set that has Disney characters on the pins that I also set out to keep the kids busy. I was actually surprised at how much the kids were enjoying that - for a few of the kids that's all they wanted to do!

We also played Disney bingo with the cards that were in the kit while we waited for Mollie Magic to arrive and set up.

Then the real fun began with the magic show. The kids were entranced and so excited to watch the magician do all her magic tricks. That was the highlight of the birthday party for Lucas.

After that we used some props for some photo booth type fun.

For a snack I just made a chex mix snack mix, 'magic wands' (grapes on a skewer topped off with a pineapple) and instead of cake or cupcakes we used the Mickey shaped cookie cutters that came in the kit to make peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies.

Lucas was very happy with his magical Disney birthday celebration and I'm glad it's finally over! I stress so much over having a party at the house and making it fun for the kids - I'm not a party-producing mom!

And now I only have 4 months before Kayla's birthday party - but I'm thinking of a movie theater party so that shouldn't be too stressful!

Disney Side At Home Celebration

Last September we were able to go to Disney World for the 3rd time with the kids. The first 2 times Lucas didn't really remember it. This last time he remembered it so well that he has frequently asked "When can we go back to Disney?" coupled with exclamations of "I can't wait to go back there again and ride Thunder Mountain!" and then this, "I wish we could LIVE at Disney." Needless to say it made quite the impression on him.

A couple of months ago I received an email to apply to be a host of a "Show Your Disney Side Celebration!" I thought my chances to get in on this opportunity were probably slim, but applied anyway. Especially considering that Lucas's 6th birthday is in Feb - right in the middle of the time frame to host the celebration - and the celebration could be any theme and for any reason.

I didn't mention anything to Lucas about the possibility, and after not hearing anything several weeks after applying I kind of forgot about it.

So when the time came to start planning a birthday party I asked Lucas if he wanted to have a magic show party - he started to become really interested in magic late last year and wanted a magic kit for Christmas.

Well he thought that was the best.idea.ever! for a birthday party.

Then soon after that came the email that I was selected to be a host of a Disney Side Celebration and would soon be receiving a large box of surprise goodies and supplies to host said party. Disney is all about the magic, right? This would be easy to incorporate a Disney Magic Show birthday party for my sweet soon-to-be (at the time) six year old. (His birthday has passed, but his party is this weekend).

There are a lot of ideas for recipes, themes, and activities. The party kit also included a Disney-themed bingo game that the kids can play while we wait for the magician to set up.

He was excited to make this a Disney-themed party as well and couldn't wait to get the box to see what was in it that we could use for the party.

One of the items ended up being an early birthday present for him.

Now if only I could stop stressing out about his birthday party! I'm just not a party mom! But hopefully having all these supplies and ideas and activities will help the party run smoothly!

Thanks go to: Disney for the host package; American Tourister for the luggage, Haines for the plain white t-shirts, and HP for the photo card packs (I am going to attempt to have some props for some photo booth fun!). I received the products for free to host a Disney Side At Home Celebration; no other compensation received. All reactions and comments from my kids are their own :)
