We started out celebrating the 4th in La Plata, just like we did last year.
tuckered out after 3 hrs in the sun ... good thing for the nap though so he could stay up late for the fireworks.
After taking a break at home we went to see Toy Story 3; both kids did well (better than they did with Shrek Forever After) and sat (mostly) still through it.
After the movies we met my sister at the fire station for hamburgers/hot dogs/brats dinner.
Finally back home to watch the fireworks from the comfort of the front lawn. No crowds, no traffic, and right in the house to bed when they were done!
Waiting for the fireworks to start...
I love days like this; staying busy, having fun, and no meltdowns!

Sounds like you had a wonderful day! I love it when a plan comes together. The pictures are great. Glad you stayed safe and got to go inside right after the fireworks! We spent the day out and about then watched the fireworks on TV. So thankful we weren't part of the masses heading home from downtown Seattle!
