In yesterday's post I mentioned the One World One Heart Giveaway. Go read all about what it is and see the long list of participants in this contest, then come back and read why I'm participating and what I'm giving away.
Back already? Ok. Bloggers will be announcing their individual contest winners on March 21st (or as close to that date as possible.) March 21st is significant to me for another reason so I just felt like I should participate.
What is so special about that date? Last year Down Syndrome International declared March 21st as "World Down Syndrome Day." March 21st = 3/21. 3/21 also = 3 copies of the 21st chromosome which is Trisomy 21 which is more commonly known as Down syndrome. Pretty neat huh?
This year's theme is "Celebrating Diversity", to continue creating awareness about Down syndrome and promote acceptance of diversity.
So in sticking with that theme and creating awareness, what better prize could I give away than a copy of the book, yep you guessed it, Gifts, Mothers Reflect on How Children With Down Syndrome Enrich Their Lives.
Now it won't be this exact book as the 2nd release edition isn't available until July, but I do have an extra copy of the first edition that was released.
Some people might be asking themselves what they would want with a book about kids with Down syndrome if they don't have a child with Down syndrome. I'll tell you! Yes the premise of the book is mothers sharing their stories of raising their child with Down syndrome and how they've enriched our lives, but it's also about much more than that. It's about love, acceptance, and just mothering. You'll probably relate to some parts of different stories, some feelings, you'll laugh and cry and smile at each wonderful and precious gift of life.
But don't take my word for it! Ask Chelle - she is reading this book and doesn't have a child with Down syndrome - go ask her why she decided to order it and how she is enjoying the book!
Oh yeah, for those who are new to my blog - I also have a story in the book!
So how to win a copy of this book? Just leave a comment on this post and you're name will be entered in my drawing! Easy enough!
