Letter to God via the Tooth Fairy

Lucas wanted to send a letter to God (or Santa) and he figured the best way to do this was by leaving it under his pillow for the Tooth Fairy. I tried telling him that the Tooth Fairy probably wouldn't come and retrieve the letter because there was no tooth under his pillow...and that is the whole reason for the visit.

He was so adamant about just trying it and maybe the Tooth Fairy would come and give his letter to either God or Santa.

He said he wanted to ask for a Super Power. He was so hopeful that by sending this letter and asking for a Super Power that maybe, just maybe, he would get one.

What is a mom to do when her six-year old writes out such a letter? And even says that it is OK if God can't give him a Super Power. What is a mom to do when her kiddo is hopeful and full of imagination and wonder?

Well this mom did the only thing she could think of to do. She slipped that note out from under his pillow and left a note that was delivered by the Tooth Fairy via God.

I didn't want to crush his spirits by just saying he couldn't have a Super Power, so I tried to get creative in the reply.

In short the reply said, "...God is the only one with Super Powers, but each of us do have special super powers if we know where to look for them ... and they are hidden inside your heart.

You have the power to know when to do the right thing, tell the truth, encourage others, be a friend to someone who needs a friend, be kind and helpful to others, and put other people first. Don't judge people, accept people for who they are, don't bully or make fun of anyone.

You already do a lot of these things that show your heart has these special powers and that is what makes you a special and good person. Keep it up!"

I know those weren't the kind of Super Powers he was hoping for, but I hope the message will be taken to heart.

Wow! This is one of the most darling things I've read in a long time. I'm going to share it on Facebook.

And you are a very wise mommy to reply and remind Lucas that he already has special powers.

Precious!!

Oh my, he is just the best. He reminds me so much of my Abby. Who leaves a note every chance she gets. You have to wonder where they come up with these ideas. you also have to wonder exactly what super power he wanted. I think your response is beyond perfect.

I've always wanted super powers and the ability to create any form of matter I want at will is one of them. However, since I know I'm not God, I'll just stick to language.

This was so great! As I was reading the letter, I thought the same as you, "How do you answer that?" You did a wonderful job! How did he respond to 'God's' letter?
