Discovering the Ocean

We finally got around to taking the kids to the beach ... for the first time ever in their lives. Oh the wonder of being at the beach and seeing it through children's eyes. Children who thought it was the neatest thing ever.

Kayla stood at water's edge and watched as the waves gently rolled in and surrounded her feet. Then she went running in the opposite direction, screaming with delight, only to run right back to the edge and wait for it to happen all over again.

Lucas watched the fun his sister was having and soon followed suit. Both of them over and over running to and from the water as it 'chased' them.

Oh if you could only capture that true wonderment and joy and enthusiasm that kids have!

*Following are a lot of pictures. Hey, what can I say? I wanted to capture the magic of discovering the ocean for the first time. So now I have too many favorites!

Then Kayla started getting more adventurous - walking in farther and staying there while the ocean swirled up around her knees.

Lucas also had fun collecting a lot of shells

I think this is the first time I've seen a jellyfish outside of an aquarium!

Loved these pictures...the beach was my favorite childhood memory, we went every summer and I hope to do the same with my kiddos! Lucas looks so tall in those pictures...he's growing like weed!

So much fun! I definitely understand why you wanted to post all those.

I'm very jealous here. :)

I hope that's the last time you see a jellyfish outside an aquarium, lol.

Awwww this really made me smile:-) You certainly did capture how happy they were at their first beach experience!! I grew up going to the beach quite often, especially since we had a camp with a beach across the street. No doubt Kayla and Lucas will be asking to go again soon!! lol xoxo

Hi Michelle,
have you all already moved to Charleston? That's the last I heard or read. If you have welcome to SC! Nice pics/video. Kids have grown and both are so adorable! Haven't blogged in awhile..been behind the camera and on Facebook mostly.

Love the photos!! It is amazing how you can take the ocean for granted when you've always been around it. Thanks for sharing those sweet moments.

Love it! Doesn't matter how many times you've been there... the ocean always does that to a child. Does it to most adults I know too (Speaking from experience... I live near the ocean;o)
