NDSC Convention Recap

So glad we were able to attend convention! It was great reconnecting with 'old' friends and meeting other online friends for the first time. Workshops were informative. Vendors had a lot of great products (and I especially love the booths with work from the self-advocates!). Fun times! It's nice being in an area where you can see plenty of other kids 'just like yours' and no one gives you second glance. I'm already looking forward to convention next year in San Antonio (just not looking forward to Texas in August ... which I'm sure is no better than Florida in July!)

I love Kayla's skirt - it has tulips. I thought it was the perfect attire to wear to the Friday night reception/dance.

Lucas playing with Bethany's daughter Nika.

Lucas loved this display:

Spending a few minutes chatting with Shelley.

Up so late the night before + pool the next day + no nap = Lucas falling asleep at 7; while waiting for our dinner:

He slept through dinner; but Kayla was good to go for another late night:

Friends of ours from Roswell, NM: Missy and her daughter Addie.

She did fall asleep soundly that night:

Hanging out with Chrystal's daughter "Playette"

The kids had so much fun together and Playette is beyond adorable!

I'm really looking forward to going next year! The last time I went to a convention was in July 2005 in Chicago. I came home with an adoption application, the rest is history :)

Looks like everyone had a fun time! I love the picture of Kayla dancing and also the one of the three kids where it looks like she's accidentally choking Lucas and he isn't enjoying it much. Too cute!

Wasn't it fun? Love the pictures. We had so many good memories - my favorite is my 10 year old looking out the window getting excited and saying "It looks like a parade of people with Down syndrome!"

I also loved seeing all of the adults in love, eating out! So fun.

Stupid question, but what do they talk about?? Obviously Ds issues, but will you post how it was helpful? Or is it more to just socialize? Just curious :)

Aww, I miss it already! We'll have to get the kids together again sooner than later. :)
