Creating Memories

I tried to make the most of the 2 weeks we had with Joe; planning fun things we could do as a family since he's missing out on a year of doing things like that with us.

Sometimes it worked out; like building a school bus at Lowe's Build and Grow Clinic, and going to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore for the Ride The Ducks tour.

Sometimes it didn't; like when we lasted 2 innings at the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs baseball game because of a thunderstorm, or the hayride that wasn't at the Oxon Cove Farm (but we still explored the farm), and the carousel and train ride that were closed at Watkins Regional Park (but we still went to the Nature Center).

And Joe was here for Kayla's first day of school, so that was nice.

Even though everything didn't go "as planned" here is a slideshow of the memories we did make.

The song I'm Already There by Lonestar gets me every time, but even more so now, so I thought it was the perfect song for the slideshow.

I've just returned from a vacation spent with our son who is stationed in Colorado. It was hard to leave him, and I know having your husband gone has to be much harder.
I think you made great use of your time together!

Those are wonderful pictures...great job putting it all together. I'm so sorry he's gone again. I hope the next six months fly by for all of you.

I'll always think of the two of you when I hear that song...it's always made me cry, but even more so now.

I can't watch this right now - I have to go to my boys' school and I can't go with a tear stained face, so I'll watch it later :)

I bet the next 6 months will FLY by! Thank your husband for us, please.

((((HUGS)))) to you guys!

Oh boy. That song gets met too but it really got me this time. Looks like you had a wonderful two weeks together. The look on Kayla's face at the end (at the window) was just heartbreaking. Your kids are so lucky with the both of you as parents. :)

That was beautiful Michelle. I was crying throughout. You put it together awesome. There is s a version of that song with military member talking during the breaks it is on itunes it is also great. My husband was a Marine but could not take being away from our son. It takes both of you and you both are making it work amazingly. I hope the next 6 months goes by fast. Take care and our prayers are with you.

I don't think I will ever be able to watch that without crying. The love that you and Joe share is so evident in the way you look at each other and the love you both have for your children is just beyond words.

Dennis and I love and miss you all more than you'll ever know.

Well...I guess I didn't cry enough today, because that video sure pulled the water works out of me! It makes me so excited for Josh to come home on R&R, but then it reminds me of how hard it is to say goodbye again. Looks like you all had a blast...he'll be home again before you know it. **HUGS**

That was a really beautiful video. I just dropped over from 5 Minutes for Special Needs to take a peek. So glad I did. My heart goes out to all of you. The husband of a close friend is in the Guard and has done deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. So I have somewhat of a sense of what all of you give. God bless.

If everything worked out as planned, you'd have years and years of video, right? A wise man once told me that only a few things in life work out the way you planned it so you won't spend all your waking hours planning your life and that things that work out, planned or unplanned, are cherished forever.

My interpretation: You're blessed.

My kids interpretation: You get what you get and you don't throw a fit.

Great videos.
