Out of Commission

So this week the craziness begins...the movers will be here tomorrow! They are supposed to be here all week, but we're hoping it doesn't actually take them that long to get everything packed. Obviously I won't be around much! I just hope everything goes smoothly; that we get the house cleaned this weekend and pass the final inspection on Mon. Then we begin our long trip back east...via a Christmas layover in OK.

As if I wasn't emotional enough, Kayla's aide in the resource room bought her a gift. Mrs. G's last day with Kayla was today as she's leaving on vacation. She bought Kayla 2 books and wrote a nice note inside each of them. She gave her The Cat in the Hat and wrote that this was her favorite story right now, she hopes she'll always enjoy reading because it'll take her far in life. I didn't even know that was her favorite story right now - we have it at home, but don't read it too often. When Kayla saw it she said "A Cat in a Hat...Dr Suess." I didn't even know she knew the author! The second book she gave Kayla was The Big Blue Book of Beginner Books. Inside that she wrote I wish you the very best in your life. Stay true to yourself, you are a great person! Way to make me cry Mrs G! I was so touched to see how much Mrs G was impacted by working with Kayla these past 4 months. I pray she'll always have wonderful teachers, assistants, aides, and therapists...people who will push her to her fullest potential, people who will help her learn, people who will care about her.

It sounds like Kayla had a true teacher. I'm so happy she had such a wonderful start to her school experiences.

Know that I'm praying for you this week and as you move. Whatever happens God is with you and it's all good.

I was thinking about you and the move last night as I was making pretzels! Though sad to leave the people you know, its a fun adventure! Christmas in OK? Sounds fun, too! The trip will be some great family time before you prepare for hubs to be gone.

Prayers to you and your family for a safe and fun trip!

It's amazing how big of an impact teachers have on kids lives. I'm so thankful Kayla has started out with such good ones!
Blessings on your family as you make this big move. I can't imagine the stress of it all right during the busiest time of the year.
You'll be in my prayers each time God brings you to mind.

As a former teacher, there are just some kids that just stick with you. I am sure Kayla is that way. The impact goes both ways.

As for the move, good luck!

How incredibly sweet of the teacher to do that! Thanks for sharing, Michelle.

Know we'll be praying for your trip and your settling in once you get there.

Have safe travels and check in once everything slows down a wee bit.

Merry Christmas!!

I can see why her gifts and especially the personal notes she wrote would make you teary, Michelle. I hope Kayla always has teachers like her.

So the craziness begins. I know this isn't the idea time to make this move, but before you know it, it will be behind you and you'll be all settled in with your mom.

I hope it all goes as smoothly as possible for all of you. And since you'll be out of commission for a while, I'll wish you and your sweet family a very Merry Christmas.
