Remembering...and Praying

2 years ago I wrote about my memories of where I was on 9/11/01. Last year I paid tribute to a soldier who lost his life on 9/11/05.

2 days ago my husband reenlisted in the Air Force. There wasn't any thought of not doing it; we didn't have any hesitation of signing up for another 4 years. This is what we know - the military life.

Today I'm thinking about how many lives have been affected since that one day 7 years ago...it didn't end on 9/11/01. Over 2000 lives were lost that day, but the casualties continue to this day. Over 4000 lives have been lost since then. Casualties in Iraq and casualties in Afghanistan. I've taken some time to read their stories, say a prayer for their families left behind, a prayer for those who have been wounded, and a prayer for the men and women still deployed.

Time may go on, but I won't forget what happened, and what came afterwards, and I say thank you to those willing to serve...

Thank you to all those who gave their lives for our country. And thank you and Joe for the sacrifices that you make. We may not say it often, but we do appreciate it.

Wow - thank you to your husband who re-enlisted. You understand and can appreciate time away from the family. A sacrifice to both of you!

My husband is a Federal Agent with Diplomatic Security. He was at his office around the corner from the WTC on 9/11. We will both never forget that day.

I love that most everyone I follow has posted something about today. I looked into the list of the casualties - and found the name of one soldier I knew...I've emailed his family today...

Congratulations on the re-enlistment! I love re-enlistment days. For some reason it almost feels like a new beginning :)

That's exciting!! I can't imagine Daniel getting out. This is our life and we love it. The day will come but it's way down the road.

p.s. I owe you an e-mail!! We have the Buddy Walk on the calender! :)

I don't think any of us will ever forget that day, no matter what country we live in. My heart aches for all those lives lost that day, as well as those since then. It brought tears to my eyes to learn that Joe reinlisted for another 4 years...the sacrifices you both make touches my heart. xoxo

Michelle congrats on the reenlistment. You're so right, the military life is one we know and it's hard to imagine being civilian when you've been in for so long.

Thank you to Joe and to you for your daily sacrifices for us all :)

Hugs,
Sandra

Been saying a lot of little prayers throughout the day today.

Those still fighting to keep our nation safe are never far from my thoughts.

Tonight, I will add Joe to my prayers, thanking him for his service and praying that he always comes home safe and sound.

Today is such a somber day, remembering 9-11. I can't believe that it has been 7 years. As always, I love your posts. Congrats on the reenlistment. I have been away from military life for quite a while now, but remember those days well.

Thanks to you too! You and other spouses who hold down the homefront are also heroes! The men couldn't go out there without someone taking care of their families!

I posted a memory about it too!

Thank you Joe and all of those who serve in the armed forces! And thank you Michelle and all the other military families that support our soldiers during their line of duty.

Having worked on a military base for the past 3 years now, I see first hand the sacrifices these men and women (along with their families) make and I'm forever in awe!
