I Will Not Be Broken (book giveaway)

Updated: Survivor Corps criticizes Russian for using cluster bombs on Georgia civilians. Check out this link for more information on what Survivor Corps saying about this.

I just started reading the book I Will Not Be Broken: 5 Steps To Overcoming A Life Crisis by Jerry White. Mr White is the founder of Survivor Corps; he lost a leg in a landmine accident in 1984.

Jerry has interviewed thousands of people around the world - from the famous (Lance Armstong, Nelson Mendela) to the not-so-famous. They come from all walks of life to share their stories of how tragedy struck their lives and what they learned from it.

The premise of the book is that tragedy will strike all of us at one time or another. We don't know when or how, but we'll all endure a moment that divides our lives into before and after the event happened. What we decide to do with the after affects how we live our lives out. It's about attitude and choosing to live, to not only survive, but to thrive and get past it.

Through his own experiences and those of others he's talked to, Jerry shares what he, and they, have learned to survive. The 5 steps to surviving are Face Facts, Chose Life, Reach Out, Get Moving, Give Back.

We can all learn something from each of the survivors in this book; I'm finding it fascinating to read how they've overcome adversity. Even though the lessons learned are about moving past a tragedy, I think they can be applied to general life lessons.

Lance Armstrong sums it up nicely with this quote, "Jerry White brings his insight and experience to bear expertly for those facing life's unexpected challenges. He embodies the spirit of survivorship."

If you're interested in reading this book leave a comment and I'll pick a winner sometime next week; in the mean time several chapters of the book are available for free download.

We are all survivors of birth and life- the only thing we don't survive is death (and some folks believe even in surviving that)! I'd love to read this book. Great find- thanks!

I'd love to read this book too. Actually, I'd love for my husband to read this book :) He's had a few of those defining moments in his life already.

I absolutely agree with premise. We all have moments that divide our life into the before and after; it really is a question on when that event is going to occur. I do wonder why some people just seem to get struck more than other though.

I'll have to check out the downloads.
