That Face

I think my brain has turned to mush because I can't come up with much of anything to write about! Not to mention a certain little someone is taking up a lot of my time now :) I figured I better post something though or I might lose all my readers! LOL

So I've got a few pictures to share, but before I do that I do have a question for those of you who have boys. Is there a secret to diapering boys so they don't leak?! I know all babies leak out of their diapers sometimes; I know Kayla did, but it seems to be happening a lot more frequently with Lucas and I was wondering if that was a boy thing! I thought it might happen when his diaper was already full, but it's happened after I put a new one on too...I'll lay him down and next thing I know his onesie is wet. The pee seems to come out the side/back. I try to make sure he's pointing down when I put the diaper on, but I don't know if that helps or not. He doesn't leak out every time, but enough to make me wonder if there was some secret I didn't know about!

As much as I love watching Lucas when he's sleeping (and all those different facial expressions babies make when they are sleeping),

I also love watching him when he's awake and alert -

just looking around and taking it all in

A little snuggle time with daddy:

Michelle Lucas is absolutely precious. Congratulations on such a beautiful family!

I always had to make sure the little elastic bands around Nate's legs weren't tucked inside the diaper. That seemed to help when he would be wet with a brand new diaper. It seems like Lucas's diaper isn't absorbing the pee right away and it has a chance to run with gravity. Maybe you can try a new brand for alittle while and see if there's a difference. I loved the pics, BTW. He's so cute. I love the one of Joe with both kiddos. Awesome.
love you!

Awww, what a cutie! I have found that Nate leaks out of the Huggies a lot, but is fine when I put Pampers on him. Nate's legs are so skinny that the Huggies don't seem to wrap around them as well, so he tends to leak out of the side of them.

I remember that I was able to use Huggies for my daughter, but my son had to be another brand - Pampers was good for him. I did find leakage more of a boy thing that's for sure. Oh these photos are soooo gorgeous!

He is SO cute! I have no advice for the diapers though! I love the last picture with the kids with Daddy. So sweet.

I remember it being a brand issue too. Some brands leaked, some didn't. Also making sure to get the elastic right around the legs helps. I don't remember specifically pointing "it" any direction...
He is so beautiful. I'm so happy for your sweet little family.

Ummm.. how do I say this?.... hmmm
As a mom to two boys, you have to um, point "it" down before you close the diaper. There you have it!
By the way, those pictures were worth the price of admission! What a beautiful family you have!

Those are the most beautiful pictures...you are a great mom. I have no advice for you about boys as our boys were adopted at 16 months and one at 7 years of age...but I'm sure that lots of folks out there can help....

Have a wonderful evening.

I have been gone from blogging waaaay too long! I missed the birth of Lucas! HE'S BEAUTIFUL! Congratulations. All of you look so wonderful together. The video with Kayla was the sweetest thing. I'm cracking up that she's calling him "it". I'm so happy for you guys. I'm particularly happy that Joe was home to welcome the new baby into the family. Glad to see the pictures of Lucas!!

Make sure it is pointing downwards is one suggestion. Another is try different brands until you find one that workd well for him. I find that the generic store brands leak less than the expennsive ones.

He is adorable, and love the picture of the three of them too.

Shannon @ Gabi's World said...

Oops I just realized that you said you point it down! Sorry read it too fast! I'd just try different brands. I also use Diaper Doublers at night for Preston because he peed so much, but it doesn't sounf like that is his problem.

Gorgeous BABY!! Not a surprise your whole family is Gorgeous! Love the photo with Joe and both babes!!
Huggies supreme! They are the best! Still work for us :) Hope your well hun!!

It might be body shape. My son can only wear Pampers or he leaks immediately. Longer leaner kids of my friends also wear Pampers with luck. Our friends with pudgier kids have more luck with Huggies (and those lucky folks can use the cheap Kirkland ones from Costco that are made by Huggies!)

Well, I don't have boys...but what a cutiepie! I just don't get tired seeing pictures of newborns! And he is certainly one of the cutest newborn babies, I have to say! So precious...

I can't tell you how much it brings back memories of wanting to just sit and stare at my babies...I mostly remember this with my last one, who is now almost six. She might do nothing but sleep, and I would be completely captivated!

Enjoy this time, Michelle!

I found my boys leaked more for some reason. And I used different diapers on all kids. Nolan was huggies only, Kaia was pampers only, and Pierce is Huggies only because he's allergic to pampers...gives him NASTY rash, and I've tried every other diaper out there and they all just suck! LOL. Make sure the elastic bands around his legs are not all tucked in and folded under, and yes, pointing "it" down makes a difference.

Hope you find something that weeks. He's a DOLL!

Michelle he is such a cutey.

I always found that pampers worked well with Noah I did have huggies initially and found that they leaked loads. Also if you make sure that the frilly edges around the legs are pulled out and not just tucked right in that should work.

I have heard that huggies are great with girls though. ;- )

ChupieandJ'smama (Janeen) said...

Like some of the others we had to play around with brands too. For the older boy we used Luvs, but for the younger son nothing but Pampers would work. And make sure the elastic around the legs are tight.
He's just gorgeous!! And I love that Kayla has her baby too.

oh my goodness can a baby boy be any cuter? (besides mine of course *wink*) Now I am not sure about your delemna...I remember when Aaron was teeny tiny and we had that problem the first few weeks, because dad didn't put wee willy winky down. :D Keep the baby stuff comin' I don't mind!

I had that problem with Gary. I tried all different brands of diapers to. Nothing helped. My friend told me to buy the next size up of diapers. Thats worked.
I just love those pictures of your little guy! The last picture is just so precious.
love ya,
mimi

He is so sweet. Diapers....leeking...aghhhhh. We had that problem with Miller. We had to just try all the brands of diapers. Finally Huggies helped us out the most. We dont have any leaks now...good luck girl.

Kim Davis said...

He is beautiful Michelle!!

I have to echo those that suggested a diaper brand change. Chris would ALWAYS leak in papmers, but was OK in huggies.

Pam said...

With my boy, only the sterling-priced diapers worked. I think we used the high-end Huggies on him at the time. He definitely had leaking issues that neither of my girls had. Good luck on finding that perfect fitting diaper.

Michelle, you and Joe have the most beautiful children. Kayla has always melted my heart and Lucas is quickly doing the same. They are absolutely darling.

Didn't read the other comments, so forgive any repeats:

try pointing him up, instead, and see how that goes for him.

really get that diaper on SNUG. Like, tight to the point where you think it's tooooo tight. He'll be fine, as it stretches and will expand anyways.

check his legs. Like Nisa said, check the plastic liner things.

Tanya said...

I agree with some of the other commenters - Logan was fine if I used Pampers but with Huggies his clothes were always soaked.

Now it doesn't seem to matter what brand I use - they all work fine.

Melissa @ Banana Migraine said...

He is so beautiful!! Such sweet pictures. I agree with the brand thing - with Dominic I used Pampers because the other leaked. Delphine does fine with the generic Target brand.

Courtney said...

First off the pics are so cute!
I had the same problem with my little boy. I mean bad like every single diaper change I'd have to change his clothes & what finally worked usually everytime for me was pointing "it" down before sealing the diaper. It was a lifesaver for me. Hope you get some good advice.

Beth said...

We are diaper snobs - we only use the Pampers Swaddlers and then once they've outgrown those - we move to the Cruisers!!! They work best in my opinion.

Lucas is precious and Kayla seems to be doing well with him!

Michelle, he is just so cute! I love his chubbyness already :)

And yes, boys do seem to leak a lot more. Abe was that way and I ended up not being able to use pampers with him like I wanted to. I would also recomend using the next size up, that worked when Abe got older and was soaking himself at night, but it might help Lucas as a baby too.

I hope you figure it out soon, I wouldn't want to change those clothes all the time :)

Oh yes, the old leaky diaper...lol Having had two boys, I can relate to what you're going through and I remember their little backs always getting wet, even with Pampers. He is so precious, Michelle...like you, I can watch babies' expressions all day long:-) xoxo

The picture of the 3 of them is adorable. :)

As for wet diapers, didn't have this problem. Maybe they just fit around W.W. better than I ever knew, but he rarely ever leaked. My suggestion would be try a different brand. I did learn that Luvs never work and the same goes for other generic brands.

Leaky diapers turned me into a pampers and huggies person and I'm normally not very brand loyal...

Sue said...

What a cutie. I love the pic of the 2 of them with Daddy. So sweet. I don't have boys, but my suggestion would be to try a different brand. It could be the way the diaper fits him.

Finally getting back around to checking in. I am so behind, I'll never catch up. What a precious boy you have there!!! He is just so sweet. I love the sleeping pictures. I am glad you all seem to be adjusting well.

I never really had the problems with the leaking out of the diaper....even though I had a boy. Not sure why that is happening. Sorry I'm not much help there.

What beautiful pcitures!!!! Go with Pampers... seems to work the best for all my boys :)

What a cutie pie Lucas is. My favorite is the last one with all three. As for diapers, Noah used Pamper swaddlers, I was told you can never make the diaper too tight on boys. Noah wasn't a big leaker, with Pampers and diaper on pretty darn tight. Good luck

He's gorgeous :)

Oh the leakage LOL With Nicholas I had to make sure that the elastic bands were tucked inside the diaper, just had to make sure I pulled them all out and made his diaper nice and tight and snug. It was the ONLY way to keep him from leaking.

Also I'm sure by now you figured out the pee trick LOL When changing him I would have to open the diaper quickly and close it cause he would pee right away, THEN change him. Took the first week of getting peed on for me to realize that but hey, it worked LOL

Hugs,
SAndra

I LOVE reading your blog. Congrats on your new addition. When we had our son we did the same thing. The diaper that worked the best foe us was "White Cloud" from Walmart!!! He never leaked again!!! Might be something to check into IF you have a walmart!!! Again, congrats on your new baby boy. Boys and girls are night and day!

Melissa W. said...

i just asked one of my friends who has three boys. She said she points the 'you know what' upward before closing the diaper and it always works/also try switching brands until you find one that does not leak. It is all trial and error. You will figure it out ;)

PAMPERS SWADDLERS- I swear by them. We never had leaks with Morgan. They were recommended to me by 2 friends who both had boys. LOVE them!!!! I tried every other brand (because they were cheaper) but ended up with Swaddlers. I promise you won't be sorry. We now use Pampers Cruisers. Beautiful boy!!! You are so blessed!

Uh, you have 50 comments on this post, I think you aren't going to lose the readers. :) I LOVE those pictures, what a sweet one of them with Joe. Have no idea about boys, but it might be a diaper brand thing like others mentioned. With my girls Pampers or White cloud (Walmart brand) are the only ones that seem to work. Huggies and Target's brand both leak.

Look how sweet he is michelle!! i bet you are enjoying your family so much!!
dealing with diapers, i know that sometimes moving up a size can help. I also switched from pampers to Luvs. That really helped!

You have a beautiful family, first of all. I love the title of your blog, as well. I was drawn to it and thought...hmmm..I wonder what this blog is about. I was so pleasantly surprised to see your sweet family. I found you on William's adoption blog and have spent some time reading about your life with your 2 kiddos. We also have 2 children...a daughter and a son. Our daughter is 3 and our son was born in November 07. We also know what it is like to have a child with special needs. Our son was born with a severe cleft lip and palate. He has been thought a lot in his 4 short months of being here, but what a trooper it makes them! I just wanted to know if I can have permission to post a link to your blog from mine? I just really am loving your blog, and know that so many of our family and friends would as well. Feel free to check out our blog to watch our daily life unfold as well. Many blessings to your family. Take care....

I LOVE that picture of Joey with Kayla and Lucas and Kayla with her baby doll! How precious! You sure have a big bundle of joy there!

I honestly don't recall the leaking thing with my boys. They make diapers so much better nowadays but I am sure you will receive a lot of good tips.

Take good care of yourself, a nice long bath and a good nap can cure a mushy brain to be sure!

Hugs!

Michelle,

When Matthew was a baby he would pee through his diapers too. So someone suggested I try a different brand...I did, and it worked fantastically! So he stuck with that brand until he was potty trained. I bought a bunch of that brand for the next baby only to find that she peed through those! So every one of my babies wore a different brand of disposable diapers when they were in disposables (we cloth diapered most of the time).

Praying you get this all sorted out, because there is little more frustrating than leaky diapers.

Blessings

We used a Canadian store-brand diaper with all three of ours - and in retrospect, they leaked ALL THE TIME. Oh well!

I used Pampers for twelve years on and off, never a problem with the girls, or the little fella!

Love the pics!
