I'm pretty late with posting this today! Guess that's what happens with a newborn in the house :)
We haven't (obviously) done much this week except to hide away in the house getting to know our son and taking it easy, but there are still things to be grateful for!
I'm grateful:
1. That Kayla seems to be adjusting rather well to her new brother; there have been a few things here and there, but nothing too major. It must be hard when you've been the only kid in the house for 4.5 yrs and the center of attention and now this new little person comes along to steal the spotlight! She's really taken to having him around though and likes to cover him with a blanket (although sometimes his face too!) and help us with getting his diaper changed etc. Joe started calling him "little guy" and now Kayla will say "hi ittle guy" to him.
2. Joe's mom was able to visit for a few days right after Lucas was born and also that she had a safe trip back home.
3. Joe's squadron gave him a week off without charged leave, and Joe is taking next week as leave. So it's nice that he'll have two weeks off and only have to use one week of leave. He's been such a big help too with getting Kayla ready for school, general household stuff, and making sure Kayla doesn't feel left out with all the attention Lucas is getting.
4. Joe kept Kayla entertained this afternoon while Lucas and I took a nap (thanks honey - I needed that!)
5. A few of the ladies from MOPS brought us dinner last week...so nice to not have to think about what to make for dinner! We've been spoiled with some really great meals too! There are a few more meals coming to us next week as well which is really nice!
6. We had nice weather yesterday and were able to get out for a walk - it's been awhile since we've done that and I know I enjoyed it!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I loved your list, some wonderful things to be thankful for. Yay! So nice to have those meals, the help and Joe around. So happy for you.
I nearly kissed every woman's feet that brought us meals after Eliza's birth! They were such a huge help. I'm really glad that people are blessing you guys in that way as well.
Yay for walks, free leave, naps but mostly a new baby! Sounds like a wonderful way to spend a week :)

How wonderful that Joe got off an extra week for "free!" It'll be nice for Kayla to have someone to play with, as well as help for yourself.
Let me start off with a huge congratulations on the birth of Lucas. We just got back from our vacation. I did hear the news as my mother peeks on your blog. I'm so very happy for all of you. Beautiful little boy and I knew Kayla would make a wonderful big sister. I love the pictures, especially the ones with Kayla & Lucas. Keep them coming when you have an extra moment ( hee hee!) I'm glad you are all doing so great. Hugs & Kisses Terry & Noah
So glad that Joe is home to help you out...
What a great list this week...and sounds like the walk was well needed.
HUGS!
Good list. I checked your blog a few times last night to see if you had done your GoG post. Then I remembered- duh! You just had a baby and maybe you wouldn't do one this week. I was glad to see it. I can't believe it's already been over a week since you had your "little guy"!
I'm so happy for you guys! I'm glad Kayla is adjusting well and little Lucas (and you) are healthy (and Joe, too, of course!). It's so nice when daddies can take time off to help with the new baby. That's great!
Oh, thanks for the photo book! I received it weeks ago and am just now getting around to thanking you for it. It's so neat!
Have a great week and try to take it easy.
That's so cool Joe got to take 2 weeks off to be home with you guys. And the MOPS ladies rock! Not having to worry about menus for a little while is a great gift.
Madison had been the only child for 8 1/2 years.....total change. And it totally rocked her world. She loves him dont get me wrong...but it was a total adjustment for her. Our 3rd grade year at school was a challenge....prepare yourself dear friend....
Great list!!I think Kayla and he look quite a bit alike, judging from the pictures in the last post.
Thats so nice that Joe can have 2 weeks off. i know you will all enjoy the time together. I just think it is so sweet how Kayla is with her baby brother! She is such a good big sister!
love ya,
mimi
This sounds like a great week for you and it is so awesome that Joe is home to help out and get to know his little boy as well. Meals are so super helpful after you have a baby. What a blessing! God Bless!

Your box was mailed last Tuesday and may well be there now. I so wish I had out something for the baby in it but, well, he had not yet made his arrival!!
Happiness always...enjoy every second!

Michelle, keep meaning to leave a comment. Congratulations on the birth of your boy! He's adorable! What a good looking guy - how could he not be - look at his parents!?
So glad that he made a safe arrival and that you've got some help so that you can take care of yourself and recoup.
So great to read your list!
So glad Joe has been able to be there, with only one week leave used!
I had also been going to Mops when my youngest was born...it was such a blessing to have meals from them! And from our church, too... so nice!
So glad Kayla is enjoying being a big sister! :)
Sounds like things are going really well!! I am glad Kayla is handling being a big sister well---it sounds like she really loves Lucas!
