Grains of Gratitude

I can't believe how fast this week went by; like most everyone else I feel like there is such a build-up for Christmas and then before you know it, it's over in the blink of an eye! My mom left this morning and it's so quite around here now - Kayla was looking for her as soon as she woke up. She was here for a week but I wish it was longer -we just live to far away and it sure was nice having her here.

1. I'm grateful my mom and sister were here for Christmas. It was so nice spending that time with them.

2. My sister left on Wed and I'm grateful she had a safe trip back home. I'm glad she was here for a few days as Kayla just loved having her Aunt Kelly here to follow around and bug! If Kelly was in the bedroom with the door shut Kayla would stand at the door saying "Kelly, door shut!" over and over until she opened it - she didn't want her out of her sight!

3. I'm so so grateful my mom was here for a week; it was wonderful having an extra pair of hands around! Nice to have someone else help me out with wiping Kayla's never-ending running nose (which she's had for just over 2 weeks now and its still going strong!), giving her baths, brushing her teeth, making her breakfast/lunch, washing dishes, etc. I could take an uninterrupted shower - heck I even got to soak in the bathtub one night! Again, I wish we lived closer!

4. I'm so grateful to everyone who sent Joe a card and brought some holiday cheer to him. I know he enjoyed going to pick up his mail every day and seeing where all the cards were coming from - and they are still trickling in too...he says a big thank you as well.

5. After Joe deployed I mentioned some of the programs available to the families...one of them is the "Car Care Because We Care" where you can get a free oil change and inspection. I misplaced my certificate to have this done and when I finally found it I noticed it was supposed to be used within 30 days. It was issued in Sep! I'm grateful I was able to go to Family Support and "trade in" my expired certificate and was issued a new one - this time I'll make sure to use it within 30 days!

Wishing everyone a safe New Year!

Michelle, I'm sure your mom wishes she could have stayed longer and that she lived closer too. I know I wish those things every time I have to leave from a wonderful visit. I think the perfect situation would be for your mom to live on one side of you and Dennis and I on the other :) Now of course you might think that's just a little to close !!LOL!!

It sounds like everyone had a wonderful time with your family for the holiday. :) It's so nice when that works out. By the time my parents and brother left we'd gotten W.W. to say unca Joe and granma and granpa.

Glad you got a new certificate too. :)

How nice to have mom's help this week so that you could get a tiny bit of rest? It's getting to be that time that you need to slow down. I'm so excited for your baby!!! I just have this feeling that it's a boy, do you get that feeling?

I'm glad that Joe enjoyed his cards. You'll have to make him count them and see how many he got!

I am glad you enjoyed your time with your family. You are right it does go by so fast. Probably a good thing otherwise I would have gained 10 instead of 5 lbs. :) Happy New Year!!

Aw, I am glad you were able to have them over. I also just watched Kayla open her Daddy doll, and words just can't describe - wow, what a nice thing that is. My family is so far away but I need to remember that I'm blessed, that my Mom is 30 minutes away and my hubby is upstairs. Sending great bucketloads of hugs and warm wishes for the new year to you and your family.

How wonderful that you got to have your mom and sister there to spend Christmas with you:-) I remember well how rare being able to soak in a tub was when my sons were little! lol

New Year is a time for celebration of love, of life, of friendship. It's the time to thank God for wonderful friends, and to bring to their lives as much magic as they bring to ours...so here's celebrating our friendship and praying that its magic continues forever. Happy New Year to you and yours dear Michelle! xoxo

It's nice you had some family with you. That daddy doll is such a great idea, even for kids that don't have a dad in the service.
Hope you have a great new year, and that Joe will be kept safe and be able to spend more time at home.

Happy New Year Michelle! I spent the past few days with my mom (and dad) as well. Isn't it great how they still comfort even when we are moms ourselves? I'm glad you got that time together. Aunt Kelly sounds wonderful, too.
