Daddy Doll

Right after Joe deployed Christina let me know about something called Daddy Dolls that a friend of hers ordered for her children when their daddy was gone. I thought this was such a neat idea, but the website requires a head-to-toe picture of the person...and Joe was already gone and I don't have any pictures of him like that. So I sent Joe the website to show him what I wanted to get for Kayla. He only has a disposable camera with him and didn't think it would take the high quality photo required; besides he would need to send the camera to me to get developed. I wondered if I would be able to order this doll at all.

Joe found someone at work with a digital and sent me two pictures. The first time I tried it the picture just wouldn't upload so I thought it didn't meet the requirements. I tried again several days later and finally got it ordered. Of course it takes several weeks to receive it - I figured Joe might even be back before we got this in the mail!

It arrived on the Saturday before Christmas and I managed to hold off on giving it to her until Christmas Eve when she opened a couple gifts. I'm so happy I ordered this, I wish I would have had it at the beginning of his deployment instead of the end, but at least we have it now. That night she brought it to bed and when she woke up the next morning she walked down the hall clutching it in her arm.

Kayla opened some gifts on Christmas and the rest we are waiting until Joe is home to have Christmas again!

I'm ready for the gift-opening Mom!

She wasn't really in the mood to have her picture taken, she just wanted to rip open all the gifts with no stopping in between! She really liked the extra food set she got for her kitchen - she loves to pretend cook.

This special gift came all the way from New Zealand...Karen's sweet daughter picked this out especially for Kayla.

She's loving the lounge chair from her grandpa Ken!

This stack of books from my aunt and uncle were a big hit...

...as you can see she loves to "read" books!

Her ladybug dress up costume (minus the cute headband)

In a few weeks we'll get to do this all over again when Joe gets home - how fun!

I love that whole Daddy Doll concept. Whoever thought of that is a GENIUS!
Looks like Kayla had a great Christmas. She's going to be thrilled to get to do it all over again so soon. When is Joe expected back? (Not soon enough, huh? lol)
Tell Kayla to move over - that chair looks pretty comforable. I may need to kick back in it while she "reads" to me!
