Spoiled

I didn't know I was going to take a blogging break until I realized I hadn't posted anything since Sunday!

Tuesday was Nov 6, this is only significant in that it has now been 2 months since Joe left. We've made it to the half-way point! This doesn't mean he's actually returning 2 months to the day - so I don't have Jan 6 on my calendar, but close enough as it'll be somewhere around that time.

During that time I've come to realize someone is getting spoiled. It isn't Kayla. It definitely isn't me. Am I actually insinuating that Joe, the one who is deployed, is getting spoiled? Why yes, yes I am!

Here is my reasoning: A couple weeks ago I did a post on the Things I Miss about Joe being gone. Included in that list were many household-related tasks Joe does such as making Sunday breakfast, washing the dinner dishes, giving Kayla a bath etc.

For 4 months he doesn't have to do any of that. The only responsibility he has is to go to work. That's it! No parental responsibilities at all. No household chores. Nothing. He doesn't even have to make his bed if he doesn't want to! (Ok technically I guess I don't have to do this either, but still.) He doesn't have to cook any meals (and the meals he's eating are pretty decent, they aren't MREs!), he doesn't have to lift a finger to wash any dishes, he sends his uniforms out to the cleaners and they come back cleaned and pressed, he doesn't have to vacuum, sweep, dust, rake the leaves, or even go fill up with gas! He doesn't even have to make a decision about what to wear. Obviously while he's at work he's in uniform, but when he's not at work he has to wear the military work out uniform.

So if you look past the fact that he's working 12 hr days 6 days a week, is living in a room with a roommate (and all they have are 2 small beds with uncomfortable mattresses, a fridge, tv, and 2 wall lockers) has to leave his room to go to the bathroom, and oh yeah, is thousands of miles from his family, I'm beginning to think he has it made over there! And I'm actually the one with the tougher job! He better adjust quickly to doing things around the house again when he gets back!

Of course this post is all in jest; I've teased him about all the things he doesn't have to do over there. I'm sure if given the choice he would much rather be here with his family, enjoying the comforts of home, even if that does mean washing dishes! :)

It would be much easier to count down the days left if we actually had a date to count down towards! I hope these next two months go by fast cause it'll sure be nice to have some help around the house again, oh and having my husband back will be a nice benefit too!

Yay! You're half-way through his deployment. Doesn't seem like it's been two months already.
tell Joe I said hi.

The halfway point already? Wow. When it's not happening to you, it flies by, you know? I'm sure it's been plenty long for you guys.

You know, you have a point on the no chores thing! Sneaky how he did that!

:)

Can it really be 2 months that have gone already? That is fast, yet I'm sure it feels slow on lots of other fronts.

It's been many years since my husband was far away in Viet Nam, but I remember how I counted down the days and longed for him to come home (I was pregnant with our first son at the time). I hope the holidays will help the time to go by more quickly - then before you know it you will all be together again.

Lol if you look at it that way, YES he's being spoiled! hehe As you said, though, I'm sure he'd rather be at home doing all those things right now:-) Hard to believe it's been 2 months since he left...does Kayla still ask where he is and when he's coming home? xox

Hang in there, I know for a fact he'll be happy to make up for lost time when he gets home. I'd make him do a few extra, too. ;)

Boy do I know what you mean!! When Dennis was deployed everything was left up to me to do, and god knows I hate doing yard work, especially raking leaves. LOL I learned that I took a lot of things for granted while he was home and tried to let him know how much I appreciated him whenever I could.

YAY HALFWAY!!!!
You guys seem like such a great couple! The way you talk about Joe with such love and a smile in your words :)
take care, you are doing great!

In a way, he does have it easier, doesn't he? I think too, when a spouse is deployed, it is almost easier on them because they are the ones DOING SOMETHING away, ya know? They are doing their job and so although its hard, that is what they are designed to do whereas the spouse is just left behind to cope while they are gone. I'm glad the halfway point has been reached...I hope he gets to come home sooner than you think!

Almost done...that is good...

Make sure when he comes back you get some pampering...not only are you doing all the duties at home, you are the parent and are pregnant. I say some spa days are in order.

hahahah - funny but true - my friend Buffie's husband got home Monday from 4 months in Iraq - She was a BUSY BEE while he was gone! There is A LOT to do and it is nice to have a realization of how much your hubby does help!

Happy Halfway!

I'm so glad that you're half way through! You've been so brave. My Joe is going to be gone for only 4 days next week, and I'm freaking out! Isn't amazing how much we depend on our husbands for help, companionship, & hugs!

May the next 2 months go by just as fast!

With Christmas coming and the baby growing the latter half of this will cruise by,I just know it.

I think you are right. He is a little spoiled, but his heart must hurt so much being apart from the three of you.

I agree - our hubs are totally spoiled! :) So glad you are halfway through!! We're not quite halfway yet but our time feels like its going quickly too. Mainly because I've been SPOILED by having so much family and friends helping us.

LOVED your cute belly pics too!!

I'm glad you are halfway there. It has to be so hard on all of you. You are keeping such a positive attitude about it! How is the pregnancy going? I hope you are feeling good!
