Grains of Gratitude

Today is the last day of Kayla's 10 days off of school and we both survived so that's good! :) The only problem is the last few days she's been not taking a nap, but at least she stays in bed quietly!

My gratitude list for last week:

1. I finally heard something from Joe's squadron - I received an invitation to their Thanksgiving luncheon which was on Monday. At first I wasn't going to go because I really didn't know anyone, but I was glad to be invited. Then I found out Kevin and Jackie (friends of ours) were going so Kayla and I met them there. There's actually a whole story about what all happened at the luncheon, but that will be another post - wouldn't want to take up my whole gratitude post talking about that! Let's just say it was obvious that Kayla was seriously missing her daddy!

2. Tuesday was just one of those really nice and pleasant days that Kayla and I had together. Nothing really special, or spectacular, it was just a good day and for that I am grateful. The weather was in the high 70s and I knew by the end of the week it was going to be cold, so we went to the playground for a little while. Kayla was going to go over to Kevin and Jackie's that evening so I could go to water aerobics, but when I called the fitness center they said the pool was still closed. I didn't really have plans for dinner (just something light for me before class and Kayla could eat over at their house) so I was stumped on what to actually do for dinner. I finally decided on taking Kayla and going to JR Rockers. For those that know me this is shocking! LOL For one I just don't go out to eat that often. For two, Kayla and going out to eat just don't mix and it stresses me out. Rockers is on base though, they're never busy (especially a Tuesday night), and there is a room in the back we go to (when we do happen to eat there) that is kind of secluded and I wouldn't care so much if Kayla didn't stay seated at the table...which I knew she wouldn't do, and she didn't. She did actually eat some chicken with her fries so that made me happy (she rarely eats anything for dinner). I ordered some chimi cheesecake thing for dessert, but they were out of the ingredients, so when we left we swung by McDonald's and treated ourselves to sundaes - it was just a nice pleasant evening together.

3. I'm grateful the library still had story time on Wednesday; I wasn't sure if they would since Thanksgiving was the next day, but they did. It was nice to get out of the house and have something to do.

4. I'm grateful for the good time we had at Jim and Jennifer's for Thanksgiving. It was good food and very relaxing; all I made were candied yams. After dinner Jim and his father-in-law told us to go relax in the living room while they cleaned up...nice!

5. I'm grateful for the colder weather we finally had at the end of the week. We were supposed to get some snow, not much of an accumulation, but still, I was looking forward to seeing a dusting on the ground ... nothing materialized. I like a change of seasons and I finally got to pull out my sweatshirts. I like throwing on a comfy sweatshirt, not to mention they are about the only thing that fit me comfortably right now! It's not to last though as by Wednesday we'll be back in the mid-60s.

6. Oh, I'm in my 3rd trimester now...I'm grateful I'm in that final stretch!

What a great post, so much going on. You sound like a lady with heaps of energy, vim and vigour (I want some of that!). Third trimester, time is moving along. Wow!!! I have great memories when I was pregnant with my daughter, my son was almost 2 then, and still had this afternoon nap and I would curl up in bed with a fantastic book and have a sleep. It was precious. I hope that Kayla holds on to some of those naps for you!

Sounds like you've been busy. I am looking forward to snow, too. Not that I really like it that cold, but I absolutely detest it being cold and raining. That's what it has been doing here lately. If it's gonna do that then lets just go for the snow.

What a nice, gentle post. I love getting a little glimpse into your warm life. Kayla is such a neat girl and you are a neat mommy. I can't remember. Did you say that Joe is going to have been gone for 5 months when he comes back?
