Grains of Gratitude

Can it really be only one more week until the end of August? How can time pass by so quickly?!

My gratitude list from this past week:

1. I'm 14 weeks today...finally 2nd trimester! I remember when 14 weeks seemed like it was so far away, and now here it is!

2. On Friday the base had an End of Summer Pool Party and Luau at the base pool. They served Kahlua pork, luau chicken, rice, potato and macaroni salads, pineapple upside cake, and drinks. The food was really good. Only thing was the wind kicked up pretty bad as soon as they started serving (it was outside) but we had some cover under the canopies. We skipped on the swimming. There was also free bowling at the Bowling Alley, but that didn't start until 10pm...hello! What about families with kids who don't stay up till 10? It would have been nice to bowl after we ate, but oh well.

3. On Saturday we went to a Back to School Bash in town. They served hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, drinks, sno cones, and popcorn all for free. There were games for the kids, face painting, watermelon-eating contest, and door prizes.

4. I'm grateful for the genuine kindness of others. I've mentioned before how Karen has spoiled me with chocolate from New Zealand...well she's done it again! I received another chocolate bar from her this week - she said she couldn't resist buying it because it is blueberry chocolate! Joe and I both think it's pretty darn good! Thank you Karen!

5. I'm grateful for bloggers who hold contests! I received the DVD kit Barb was giving away - Effective Parenting In A Defective World by Chip Ingram which I'm donating to our local MOPS group as a resource for moms to check out. Thanks Barb!

I found out I won the book The Jane Austen Book Club from Kathleen Marie's pay it forward book giveaway. Thanks Kathleen Marie!

5. Tonight we're going over to our friends Jennifer & Jim for steak BBQ and board games. They wanted to have us over one more time before Joe deploys. By the time Joe gets back they'll be gone (which I don't want to think about because they are such good friends!)

Thanks to Christine for starting the Gratitude post!

Welcome to the 2nd trimester! It's my favorite time - not too big, no morning sickness etc.

Wow! Your base has a lot for families. That is so awesome! And another few nights you didn't have to cook! Those are always nice.

Hope this week is especially wonderful for you guys.

Awww, that makes me sad, Michelle. It's so tough when our friends have to move on. It never gets easier, does it? Although it's just a part of the military life.

Yay, you're in the second trimester. Are you gaining much at all at this point? How are you feeling?

Sounds like a busy but great weekend, and so lovely that you've won some great things. I can't think of a nicer person who deserves them!

It's almost a relief when you hit that 2nd trimester isn't it? Plus they say this is the fell good trimester (although it never was for any of mine.)

Wow, Michelle...such great things to be grateful for this week!

And look at all those things you won- and how special that your blogging friend sent you another gift! If anyone sent me any kind of chocolate, they'd be my friend for life...but how cool for you that it was blueberry! I've never heard of that flavor!

And congratulations for reaching that 14 week milestone! :D

14 weeks! Woo hoo! Hey, when does Joe deploy & for how long? Gregg is doing his annual tour with the Air Force Reserves. Poor baby has to fly to Guam, Australia & New Zealand (extreme sarcasm). Wish I had a job like that. Glad you are doing so well.
