Mommy Talk
Today's Mommy Talk questions are:
Did you find out the sex? Why or why not? honest...did you have what you were hoping for? (if you want, you can include ultrasound photos)
Nope! We were in the minority when it came to not finding out whether we were having a boy or a girl. Not counting the u/s I had at 5 and 12 wks (where you couldn't find out the gender anyway) I had 4 u/s (3 of which were 3D/level II) and each time we made sure to tell the tech we did not want to know the sex so please don't tell us!
Let me tell you, this drove my mother-in-law crazy! (Sorry MIL, you know we love you though!) She hated not knowing because she wanted to start buying gender-specific items; but we wouldn't cave!
I will admit there was a very small part of me that was tempted to find out, but I had heard of too many stories where couples were told one thing based on the u/s and out came the opposite gender! I just didn't want to risk that; besides I wanted to be completely surprised during delivery.
Thank goodness Joe and I both agreed from the beginning not to find out. I'm really glad we didn't because I looked forward to the anticipation of finding out at the moment of birth whether we had a son or daughter. All that waiting to meet our little one was so worth it to hear Joe say, "we have a daughter!"
We both wanted a daughter too, so yes, we did get what we had hoped for! Actually we had started referring to "the baby" as "she" (even though we didn't find out) and I used to joke that if we had a son we were going to give him a complex by calling him "she" while he was in the womb!
Here are some u/s pictures. Even though we had the 3D shot I don't think they came out that great. They weren't clear like I've seen some others and I couldn't compare Kayla's picture to the u/s and say she looked just like that! Her face was always pushed up against my placenta and appeared squished.
I also have a little video clip from the u/s (4D) but for some reason it's just not loading correctly. If I can figure it out I'll post that later.
24 weeks and 5 days (the first 3 where all taken at the same visit)
You can just make out the nose and mouth
being a little shy and not wanting her picture taken (just like her mommy!)
35 weeks - she looks a little mad in this one!
When I was going through my files I found this picture and thought I would post this one too. Joe and I took an OB Orientation class on base. The guys got to wear a "sympathy belly"

We didnt want to know either..I had a "feeling" that I was carrying a boy tho, I kept going to the boy colours :p Love the U/S pics!!!!!
I would have loved to not know the sex, but it would have drove me crazy!! So we found out as soon as we could. I love the pics!
For a minute I thought that these were pics of a NEW baby and was going to be really upset that you hadn't told me you were pregnant!
That's something I never wanted to know while I was pregnant, what sex the baby would be. A lot of people would tell me "you should find out so that you know what colour clothes to buy and what colour paint to use, etc" but I'm just nor curious that way:-) I so loved seeing all the pictures of Kayla while in your tummy!! AND....LOVE your new background!!! xox
Hi Michelle! I LOVE the new look! I especially like all the new pictures you added. Kayla is getting so big, isn't she?
Not too many people these days wait to find out, but I think it is so exciting to wait and see what God's plan is!
We didn't find out either. We wanted to be surprised with both, although for me I was tempted with #2
What a great guy to wear that thing!
I love the u/s pics. I always found them amazing! I have friends who waited too - and yes, it drove me crazy. I like to get personalized gifts. :) But I lived. :)
We did wait until confirmation from the 3D u/s's b4 we painted the nursery.
I had to know both times I was pregnant--I never did well with secrets. I like your new look
Great post and the picture of your Hubby is a hoot!
I love your new blog look!
:)
How pretty your blog looks - and I love the new pictures.
In the "dark ages" when I had my two babies they didn't do u/s routinely - so we had no option. It was a big surprise. I don't know if I would have wanted to know or not. It was kind of fun not knowing.
LOL I LOVE the belly!!!!
I LOVE all of the pictures on the sidebar, Kayla is SO cute!!! Gotta love those blue eyes! I did not want to find out with either of my children but caved and found out both!!
It was so fun to see those ultrasound pics! :) You see her sweet little face so clearly on a couple of those!
We didn't want to know either...well, I should say we both didn't want to know with our first.
With our second, I began to want to know...do I get boy things this time, or can I use girlie hand me downs? But hubby wouldn't budge, and I didn't have the heart to go against him and secretly find out...even though I could have.
Actually, it was kind of fun in a way...I was quite sure the second was a boy because of the stronger kicks, and when the doctor showed us she was all girl, I was so surprised! :)
I found out early with both kids. But I knew Rhi was a girl. I knew before I was even pregnant... Before I was even married to Shannon really. I just knew with her. I had just as strong a feeling with Nate too. It was strange how sure I fet. I figured since I already "knew" the sex of each I might as well get a nice look at them ahead of time...
Aww, how sweet! Gotta love the pic of your hubby with the tummy! :o)
I've always wanted to find out the sex of all of my babies. I applaude those that have the *umph* to withhold, LOL!
Since we had both our kids at home, and did strictly midwife appointments at our house we ever had the opportunity to find out. It gave me more reason to push honestly! I love the picture of Joe!! It totally cracked me up! Too funny!

I had 3 children and never had an US...can you believe it??? Geeze I must be soo old...lol. I love the new pictures on the side bar...I love the one of you and Kayla...its a beautiful pic....also of Joe and Kayle. But Joe looks cutest in his sympathy tummy!!!! LOL. I never knew the sex of any of my babies before I had them...I think the suprise is half the fun!
I love that you have shared all of this--how cool that you didn't find out--it seems like everyone does these days. My sister was like you and never found out (she has 4)! I couldn't wait to know. I noticed your new look, by the way, and I think it's great. Love the blueberries.
What sweet pictures. I love ulatrsound pictures. We did not find out the sex of our latest baby, Will. We found out with the others, so it was extra special to me to hear, "It's a boy!" when Will was born.
Awww how sweet!!! That is so nice that you didn't find out. Not many people in this day and age wait to find out.
While I'm not an expectant mommy yet I still haven't decided whether I want to know the sex yet or not. It'd be soo hard, I can't even imagine. You changed your layout too! I love the new pictures you added, so cute.
I just wanted to let you know I tagged you for a meme. I don't know if you've already participated but if you have/don't have time no worries! Have a good week! =)
Kayla was beautiful even before birth!!!
p.s. I wouldn't want to find out either :)
I wanted to know. I SO wanted a daughter and I needed to prepare myself if it wasn't a little girl. However with my first child the doctor made a mistake and said it WAS a girl. Only 2 weeks before Quintus was born did we found out he was a he. Coudln't love him more though
U/s pics are amazing! I'm loving that sympathy belly - I would have liked P to have a twin one for a week or so!
I love those u/s pictures. They are so cool!
I did want to know what i was having. I found out with my first and last pregnancy. I wanted to know with Tiffany but they said they wouldn't look. With Katie and Gary they looked and told me.I liked knowing b/c we got the shopping done early. It's nice to set up the nursery also. You know how bad I am at waiting for a surprise!
love ya,
mimi
Oops. I hope you don't delete me for ... well, misreading the question in your post. I thought it was: "How did you find about sex?"
:)
Great pictures in you sidebar, btw.

Great pictures, especially that last one! :)
My brother and SIL are choosing not to find out the sex of their baby due in early July and it's driving ME crazy! I want to know! :)
Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day!
oh my! I am so a *shake the Christmas presents* kind of girl. We HAD to know! I always am in awe of people like you that can not know ! Kudos!
haha love the picture of the two of you both pregnant!
It was so nice to see Kayla's first photos how cute. You sure are adorable when your pregnant!!
We didn't find out either. I had a hunch it was a boy (and he is), but being surprised was one of the most exciting parts about having a baby.
It got difficult, right at the end, because baby clothes are so darn cute and I couldn't wait to buy gender-specific ones.
But I'm so glad we didn't find out!
