Grains of Gratitude

Time for another Grains post...

1. I'm grateful we had such a nice Easter dinner over at our friend's house last Sunday. There were a total of 4 families (and someone's mother and mother's boyfriend). So it was quite the houseful! The kids were all relatively well behaved; which is no small feat when there is a 6-year old, 3 3-year olds, and an almost 2-year old. The food and company were great.

2. I'm grateful that yesterday, yes just yesterday, we finally filed our taxes. We're procrastinators. I don't know why we've become last-minute filers, but we have. It's not like we owe money, quite the contrary, we do get money back. We're just lazy I guess. So that's finally done and over with.

3. I'm grateful that Joe had a class all week. I don't think he cared so much for having to be in the class all week, but he came home every day before 4:30 which is highly unusual. So it was nice to have him home a little earlier and spend a little more time together.

4. I'm grateful the club on base had another "Kiddie Disco/Buffet" like they did last month (this will be a regular monthly event.) They have a DJ and the kids can sing karaoke, a clown making balloon animals, and face-painting. They also have separate buffets for the adults and kids. It's nice to get out like that and not cook. What made it really nice was when we walked in the manager said, "I know you guys are club members." I replied, "yes we are." He said, "It's free tonight for club members." (It was supposed to be 4.95 for adults and 1.95 for kids). I asked if the cash register/credit card gizmo thing wasn't working and he said they were having technical difficulties so it's just free. That was a nice surprise!

5. I'm grateful that baseball season has started (ok this wasn't from last week, but still). Now Kayla and I can root on the Boston Red Sox; which you all know by now I'm a die-hard fan! This is one of my favorite pictures of Kayla. When I was pregnant we didn't find out the gender, but I bought this outfit on ebay and said I didn't care if I had a daughter, she would wear this too! I love how Kayla's holding up a finger like "Number 1!"

We still like you but we are Mets fans!!! What a cutie Kayla was in that outfit.

Sounds like you had a great Easter among friends. Isn't nice when Daddy can come early!!

Hope this week is just as good.

I'm with Dori- I'm a Mets fan. Not a die hard fan like you though. I just jump on the bandwagon when they're doing well. I'm kinda obligated to root for them since I was born in NY. You had a lot of things to be grateful for again. That's great. When does Joe find out about MSgt again? Did you already say? I love that old pic of Kayla. She was such a cute little baldie!

Great list except my husband says good luck with next weekends games against the Yankees :) But Kayla did look so cute sporting her Red Sox outfit!

That's a wonderful list Michelle. We all have much to be thankful for. Right now I keep thinking how thankful I am for all of the women I've come to know through blogging. You all just bless me more than I can say.

That pic is adorable! She really is a BIG girl now, isn't she? It's amazing when you look back at baby pictures, how much they've grown.

Fun list Michelle - your club thing sounds very cool and fun - I'm so glad they're doing it every month :)

You love baseball season huh - maybe it will rub off on me - it's always been my least favorite sport to watch - but maybe now that H is playing, I'll become a fan :)

And yay - for a fun Easter dinner with friends :) What a perfect way to spend the day!

Thanks again for joining in!!!

O.K. I must say that the Boston Redsox would have tarnished you just a little bit in my eyes, except that you are way too sweet and just the fact that you even like baseball completely makes up for it. Plus, I must admit, Kayla holding up the #1 was just TOO perfect!! Glad you had family time with a meal without cooking. That is always wonderful! And hey, you're verification letters are showing up. Yay!

Oh, that little finger sticking up is just too cute. Such a young fan!

How nice to walk into a free dinner. That sure doesn't happen very often. Nice, nice list of things to be thankful for.

I always enjoy your grains of gratitude posts--you are a thankful person, and that is a wonderful quality to have. I'm so glad you got your taxes done--we are always so eager to get our tax return that we file by late Feb! The picture of Kayla is just precious.
