I was looking forward to the day...

You know how some magazines have kid's bloopers, or kids say the funniest things, or out of the mouth of babes type columns? I couldn't wait until Kayla started saying funny things like I would read about; one of those little milestones you don't really think about being a milestone.

Kayla does speak a lot and has a fairly large vocabulary, but it's mostly pointing out things, naming objects, wanting something, but she hadn't really been talking about things to us, saying those funny things kids do and I was really looking forward to that.

A few months ago I did write about the time Kayla pointed to my leg and said "color!" and I when I looked to see where I might have crayon or pen mark on me she pointed to my vein and said "blue!" Ok that was a start! I had tears rolling down my face when she thought I had colored on myself because she could see my vein.

Right on the heels of my post about her playing hide-n-seek she did something that had Joe and I laughing. She was playing with her babydoll and wanted the baby to hide. "hide baby, baby hide, here." She dumped the baby behind the entertainment center. Then she went to the opposite wall and counted, "I come!" She ran over to where she hid the baby, pointed to the baby and said "I found you!" and started laughing.

A couple of days ago we took a walk around our loop. You know those big blow up decorations in people's yards of Santa, or a snowman, or whatever? Well we came to a house that had one of those deflated in their yard (it was daytime so it wasn't up.) When Kayla saw this she stopped and said, "uh oh! It broke." I told her the people had to fix it and she responded with "I fix it" so I said they had to blow it up and Kayla proceeds to blow into the air, like it was really going to help.

Can I just say how much I am loving these kind of moments and "conversations" with her?!

So precious! Kids can say the cutest things. Or if your my kids, the most embarrassing things. I took my sons to a weight watchers meeting with me one time just to weigh in. As we were leaving (before the actual meeting started) my oldest said, "Mom, why was everybody fat in there"? Yes, it was loud, and yes the door hadn't closed behind us yet. NICE! We had our first talk about "weight" that night.

Hey Michelle,
I love your blog and hearing about Kayla. I was reading the other day and my 21 year old daughter saw Kayla and could not get over how much she looks like our Cayte girl. I told you about my best friend who has a little girl who has Downs. Ashley had to go back over your intire blog and look at pictures of Kayla because they look so much alike. Cati just turned 10 but is petite for her age and there is such a strong resemblence in so many ways. My daughter is now a big fan of precious Kayla as well.
Have a blessed Christmas

Oh she is just so sweet and I agree that is just a wonderful stage when they start expressing themselves. Life doesn't get any better than that! I wish I would have written down all the cute things my kids had said, none the less, I will with little Ben! :)

These are the moments to cherish. I do miss those little voices. However, grandchildren's voices are equally precious (I just don't hear them often enought). You are very wise to treasure times like these. You're doing a great job Michelle.

awww how adorable!! That is just so sweet her playing with her doll like that! Reading it just made me smile. I think that is sweet she thought she could help blow that up!It's these moments that you just love with your kids. Kayla pointing to your leg and saying blue reminded me of a time with her Aunt Kelly. When Kelly had pointed to a lady and said she is brown right? I remember Kelly liked to point out her colors like kayla also.

I was looking forward to the these days too...In my case is about David my nephew. He is 2 years old...in summer he spent couple of weeks with his grand parents somewhere in the sticks...He used to go in the grape-vine and take grapes...few days ago visiting my parents David went again to his magic place and looking for more grapes replied:LOOK! There are not...There are gone!

Kayla is really precious..and I mean it! One more thing, reading your lines I had that marvellous feeling that you are indeed a great-full-of-love-mom!

I cant wait to have "conversations" with Sydney, her speech is the most delayed and at 3.5 we keep waiting, but like with her walking she now runs, and when she starts talking Im sure she will never stop:)

My 3-year old loves to play hide-and-seek. But it is so easy to find him. He giggles his lungs out.

My 1-year old loves to exercise with me and my 3-year old.

"Agh-ing," my 1-year old mumbles. "Ha-ha. An-tu. Ti-por."

Translation: "Jogging. Ha-ha. One-two. Three-four."

Merry Christmas.
