Hide-N-Seek; Kayla Style

If you ever need a pick-me-up you should come on over and play hide-n-seek with Kayla; that will put you in a good mood! And let me tell you, she can play it over and over and over - all day long - even when you've run out of places to hide. She gets such a kick out of it though and thinks it's the funniest thing when she's found you.

So why is it "Kayla style" hide-n-seek? Because she plays it just a little bit different. She stays in one spot while you go hide. She counts to 10 and says "I come!" and runs through the house until she finds you. Then she "hides" in the spot she just found you in, while you hide again, and she counts again, and she finds you again. Again she'll "hide" after she's found you in the same spot you just vacated. She is always the one counting and finding you, but she also "hides" in the same spot you were in. I've tried hiding with her from daddy and keeping her quiet and let him come find us, but she wants nothing to do with that. It's more fun for her to count and then seek you out.

And when she finds you she just points and laugh like she was so slick to find your hiding spot. One time I was getting a little um, bored, with hiding (after 1/2 an hour of this) so I was sneaky and went to my bed and layed down on the pillows - keeping the lights off of course! She came into my bedroom, but couldn't see me on the bed and didn't stay in there long. So Joe came to help her by turning on the lights and she thought it was so funny that I was laying on the bed. So now all 3 of us were on the bed and she kept telling me to hide and she started counting. So I put a pillow over my head while she "covered" her eyes. After she finished counting, she pulled the pillow off my head, pointed and laughed while saying "found you!" Then of course she pulled the pillow over her head and started counting.

When my mom and sister were here Kelly got to relieve me of my hiding duties and Kayla just had a blast finding her Aunt Kelly. Here are a couple of videos where you can see each time she's counting in a different location.

She had just found Kelly hiding behind the chairs in the dining room (that's my mom's voice counting after Kayla):

I love this video how she puts her hands over her eyes, but "peeks" behind one hand, and then the other:

That was the way Jacob played hide and seek until this year. It was a riot. He can still play hide and seek all day long, he and Kayla could wear each other out with it.

Love the videos, Kayla is a great counter and seeker

Shaylee plays reverse hide and go seek, she gets in a closet, counts and say's "here come" and jumps out of the closet.

She is so cute! Mark plays it where he'll count (to 10 as fast as he can) and before you have time to hide, he's found you. Jason just throws himself on the floor and he must think he's become the invisible man and no one can see him:)

I want to go play hide and seek with Kayla!
we dont play hide and seak people wise here we hide toys and try to find them. and sometimes toys just like to hide themselves! last night it took us a while to find "H". Oh that sneaky H.
Sometimes A will say Come out come out where ever you are. Or he says Where are you *insert missing item*??

She's such a cutie! You're such a good mom to play hide and seek with Kayla! I'm so lame - I always "hide" on the couch, with a book.

Oh, I just love these videos of Kayla! My favorite part is when she says "I come!" I just love the fun little 2 word phrases they come up with at this age.

Snuggle Bug says, "Hold you" whenever he wants us to pick him up (he reaches out his arms to us). I'm not sure why he doesn't say, "Hold me" but it's cute anyway.

Thanks for sharing the videos!

You do such a wonderful job with your posts. It's amazing the way little ones just don't seem to tire of game. I have played hide and seek with the grandkids until I felt exactly the way you do - ready for a nap.
I think her way of doing it is quite clever. It's much more fun to seek!!

That's awesome! I'd totally come over and play with her!

That is so adorable! I wish I had thought to play hide-n-seek with her while I was visiting. She counts so well and so cute. I love when she was peeking while she counted. You all sound like you're having so much fun too. Nate and Jack still like to play the "come find me" game...They'll call from another room: "I bet you can't find me!" And then the game has begun... I'll go into the room they're in where they are (very obviously) hiding under the covers of their bed and I'll spend 5 minutes looking everywhere but under the covers until I get "too tired" to look anymore and I'll need a nap and then UH-OH!! Why is this bed so lumpy and why is my pillow giggling??!! They laugh so hard; like it's the first time we've ever played every time. I'm gonna be sad when they outgrow this game. I hope I can play it some day soon with Kayla.

P.S. I was looking at everyone's comments and I saw Overwhelmed's comment about how snuggle bug says "Hold you" instead of "hold me" and I remember a friend of mine who's daughter did this same thing... They figured out that it was because they always asked her: Do you want me to hold you? So, she learned that "hold you" meant she got picked up, so she repeated it.

Hey Michelle, I may be in your neck of the woods in Janurary. My test center is talking about doing a deployment to Holloman AFB 22-26 January. It's still up in the air, but if it works out, I'll be going. I'd love to try to arrange an outing with you again, if you're available! :)
