Treasure Tuesday

My treasure for today is actually today's date - Aug 1 - and birthdays.

Today, some 30+ years ago, on Sheppard AFB, I was born - and started my life as a military brat!

Birthdays are a treasure - you've survived another year and have another year to look forward to.

My parents are a treasure because without them I obviously wouldn't be here! To my mom who had horrible back labor with me; and to my dad who tirelessly rubbed her back until it was raw (and then he couldn't even be in the delivery room when I was born as men weren't allowed in back then.)

Someone else is having a birthday today too - my best friend's daughter- yep, 9 years ago she gave birth to her first child 19 minutes (if memory serves me right!) past midnight...which made it Aug 1. I happened to be visiting them late in July and was fortunate to be their for her birth. Ok I wasn't actually in the delivery room. The hospital only allowed 2 people in - her husband and mom filled those slots! And even if a 3rd person was allowed in her sister would have still won out :)

So Happy Birthday to you too Rhiannon! It's neat to be able to share our birthdays!

Just one quick picture from a birthday past...I think it was my 6th birthday. Ok, let's see a show of hands if you owned the Snoopy Snow Cone Machine that you can see in the background on this picture!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my beautiful 30 + daughter (that makes me 50 +) :0 All that back labor was well worth it because of YOU... :) Two days before you were born, I dreamt your dad and I were going to have a little girl.. :) Your Sixth Birthday at Ramstein..But, I do not even remember the gifts you got.. You are so cute...Now you are a Mom and you are more beautiful than ever, inside and out..I admire you, Michelle. YOu have such strength and grace. Happy Birthday to Rhiannon too...I always thought that was so neat that your best friends daughter was born on the same day.. sharing is such a "fun" thing to do... Love MOm

Happy 30+ (should I write your actual age??) birthday to the best friend anyone could ever ask for! We have been through so much together, good and bad. Just want you to know how much you and our friendship mean to me. I love you very much! It's great seeing all the pics of you when you were little. They're adorable. I never had the snoopy sno-cone maker. I wanted one too.
Wow, you have a good memory! It was in fact 12:19 am that Rhiannon was born. Thank you to everyone who wished my sweet baby girl a happy 9th birthday. She really enjoyed reading everyone's comments and well wishes and so did I.
love to all

Do you know they still make that Snoopy Snow cone maker - it's truly a classic to have survived 30+ years in the toy business :) I like your sewing machine too - what did you sew with it? Any pictures :)

Hope your day was superb!!!

I just wanted to thank you! Truthfully I did fear down syndrome and just looking are all 164 pictures of you, your husband, and your GORGEOUS daughter, made me realize that yes she is special, but you guys live AVERAGE lives! You DO do all the same things that everyone else does, easter egg hunt, sledding, birthday parties, and playing like any other family would. She is very adorable and bright and she has come to make me realize that you shouldn't look at people with down syndrom as a DISEASE, you should look at them as PEOPLE, because that is what they are! I would like to thank you for making me realize that. Your family is so beautiful!

By the way, Happy birthday and nic sent me!
