Yesterday Kayla helped Joe make some banana bread. She likes to "help" us in the kitchen - especially if it involves any type of stirring! Then we sing a song from our "Milk and Cookies" book from Kindermusik, "Stir and stir and stir some more!" She loves it!
So I pulled the chair up to the counter and Kayla climbed right up. Joe had just peeled a banana and put it in the bowl. Well I guess Kayla thought it was for her because she immediately grabbed the banana out of the bowl, sat back down in the chair, and took a bite! The bite was followed by "mmmm nana"
I broke off the end for her and put the rest of the banana back. By that time Joe had the 2nd banana peeled and placed in the bowl so she grabbed that one and did the same thing. Guess she was really wanting to eat a banana. So I broke off another piece for her and then showed her she was going to mash the bananas and egg together. That made her forget she actually wanted to eat the bananas!
Love her look of concentration here
Who knew mashing bananas could be so much fun?
and yes she did enjoy a nice slice of banana bread later!

That is so awesome!!! I look forward to baking with Becca!!! mmm Banana Bread!
That girl must really love her bananas! What a cutie!
Oh, it was worth the wait. How absolutely sweet! And what a lot it says about Joe...he is baking! Sounds like Kayla has a wonderful Dad-Dee too!!!!
What a lovely picture - I love cooking with the twins - it is a great family activity and the sweet rewards are very popular. Bananas here have more than doubled in price since Cyclone Larry decimated the crops in QLD so although the twins love to make banana bread too it is not a treat that they have had for a while - lucky carrots are still cheap! I bet Kayla enjoyed the fruits of her labours.
Yum! The boys love to help make banana bread. I've found that if I have extra bananas that are going soft, I can freeze them until I'm ready to bake with them. Just take them out, peel them, and pop into the batter. They defrost into mush pretty quickly.
Oh I love it! I love Banana bread too :)
What recipe do you use for it ? I am trying to find a good EASY one ;)
Sara
Memories!!! I love the story of her getting the banana and eating it thinking her daddy peeled it just for her!!! Adorable pictures! She looks so sweet. My kids like helping me use the electric mixer. Nate enjoys taking it out of the bowl while it's still turned on and letting cake mix fly every where. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. love you.
