What I Want

Yesterday The Pajama Mama wrote a beautiful piece called "What I Want" about her wishes for her 3 children. She challenged others to share their wishes and wants for their children too. So here is my version of What I Want for Kayla:

My wishes for you Kayla are many and I probably won't remember them all while writing this. To start off with though, I wish you will always be surrounded by positive people who love you and will support you. I wish people will get to know you first, to know who you are, and allow you to show them what you are capable of - before they judge you based on preconceived notions of that extra chromosome. I hope you will always be given the space you need to try things on your own and not have people jump in and do it for you. I hope you never lose that sense of wonder you have. You are only 2.5 yrs old, but already I can see the curious nature you have. I hope you always stay compassionate and caring towards others. I wish for you to know there are no boundaries on what you can learn to do and I hope you set high expectations for youself and don't settle for less. I hope you will grab life by the horns and never let go! That you will help to change the world one person at a time. Most of all I hope that we, your parents, can provide you with all the exprience, tools, and opportunity, to lead an independent, happy, successful life...and we will help you achieve whatever goals you set for yourself.

I hope you'll always know how very much you are loved and wanted in our lives. You have made differences I can't begin to explain. I hope your light continues to shine.

What a beautiful piece...Miss Kayla is such a loved child and I know she will reach the stars and live a life of love.

I started the challenge from Pajama Momma but I have not completed it yet...it was so wonderful to sit and think about 'What I wish'

Wonderful thoughts for an amazing little girl!

I don't have the time to take this challenge now, but one day I will write about this.

Michelle and Joe-You are my heros. You chose "life" and from there you have set "no boundaries" on what Kayla can do and achieve in her lifetime. Love Mom Nolan

You and Joe are not setting limits on what Kayla can or cannot do. Yea! She can be all she can be with challenging her and teaching her and being her advocate! She is wonderful and learns things so quickly. Love, her GA-Debbie

Thanks for the comments everyone. I wish I would have taken the time to really think out all I want to say, but I know if I waited to do that it would never get done! So this was a quick, off-the-top-of-my-head version!

Ah, beautifully written! Kayla is certainly a very lucky little girl to have such an amazing mom who will help her grow and become everything she can possibly be!
