Passport to Imagination

When the last couple months of school start winding down the panic sets in: What am I going to do with my children for the whole summer?!

While it is good to have some down time and just let them hang out at home and around our neighborhood, my kids also like to be on the go, Kayla especially. She is always asking "Where are we going? And? And?" The "and?" is in response to whatever I tell her we might be doing that day - as in, and then what? What after that?

So I scour the local parenting magazine for events that are going on during the summer, check the local theaters for their summer movie specials, check local churches for their VBS schedule, and start signing up my kids for this and that and adding things to our calendar.

One of those events on our calendar is a workshop from Michaels. Passport To Imagination is their annual in-store summer crafting program for kids ages 5 and up. The workshops are 2 hours long and only $2. What an inexpensive activity to do with the kids and a great way to get out of the heat and humidity that plagues the south!

This program runs for 7 weeks and is held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This year's theme focuses on a "museum road trip". This year they have partnered with 7 of the best museums from across the country; each week they''ll explore a different museum and do a couple of crafts, plus an at-home project.

While Kayla is away at camp this week I will be taking Lucas to one of the workshops tomorrow. This week's theme is from the Georgia Aquarium (which has been on our list of places we want to go while we're living in SC.). You can register for any of the workshops online.
