Ready for Kindergarten

As we were nearing the end of Spring Break I tried to prepare the kids by telling them that they were going back to school in a couple of days.

Lucas thought that the break from school meant that when he went back to school he would be in Kindergarten, "So when we go back to school I'll be in Kindergarten?!"

He was disappointed when I said no.

He wants so badly to be riding the bus and going to the same school as Kayla. I told him, "Soon enough and you will be!"

He told me he doesn't need to go to preschool anymore and that he is ready for Kindergarten now.

I told him to enjoy these last few months before Kindergarten starts, because then he'll have to wake up at 6:00 like Kayla does and won't be able to sleep in past 8. I reminded him that he will be at school ALL DAY and not just the 4 hours that he is now. I also reminded him that he is home every Friday with me since preschool is 4 days a week and that in Kindergarten he will be in school on Friday, too.

He still says he is ready for Kindergarten.

I agree, but stop growing up so fast, will you?
