Day 2 Giveaway: I Love My Life

I'd like to introduce you to Julie, and her brother Derrick.

Julie has Down syndrome, and Derrick is paralyzed on his left side. Guess what? They both love their life.

Listen to the story of the "Love Chromosome" and how Julie's mantra of "I love my life!" became a slogan on a tshirt. I so enjoyed watching this video and seeing these siblings joke and interact with each other. I can just picture Kayla and Lucas having this type of relationship as they grow older.

What a powerful quote by Julie that she likes having Down syndrome because it makes her different and she "...likes being unique."

Would you like to win an "I Love My Life" t-shirt? Julie and Derrick have graciously offered TWO t-shirts for this giveaway!

You can enter using the Rafflecopter widget below. Leave a comment stating what you love about your life and then click on the +1 Do It link. (At this moment, what I love about my life, is being able to spread awareness about the positive aspects of raising a child with Down syndrome.)

To earn more entries, and to spread the word about Julie and Derrick, you can like them on Facebook and Tweet about the giveaway. You can do each of those things directly on the Rafflecopter widget.

What I love about my life is even though there are tough times we always pull through, God is showing me everyday the direction He wants us to take in life. no day is every the same, some are harder than others but I feel like we grown and learn through each experience. I love to raise awarenesss about differences, not just down syndrome to those around me

What I love about my life is the way Rachel having Down syndrome has opened my eyes to other genetic issues and disabilities. As heartbreaking as many of the stories I've read are, they are also an inspiration to me. Children are true rock stars at life no matter what has been thrown at them!

What I love about my life is being a compassionate human being. Kindness goes a very long way and if you keep your eyes and heart open it comes back 10 fold.

I love my life because i have friends, family and my boyfriend. I love my life because I have supporters and people who believe in me. I love my life because I can express myself. I love my life because I can advocate and educate other people about Down syndrome. I love my life because I can show people that we all have a voice. I love my life because I'm a role model and a leader. (this is from Jessie, not Nancy!)

I love my life because I am married to my best friend and favorite person. I also have 3 great kids, one amazing grandson and another on the way. I also have the amazing opportunity to teach preschoolers with multiple disabilities and to work hand in hand with their families.

And my daughter, playing peek a boo in the tub tonight.

I love my daughter's smile when I walk into the room. I love how proud she is now that she's learning to walk. I love that her needing more attention has brought out the best in my entire family.

What do I love about my life? TONS! But here's one: I love that I live in a country that makes it possible for my little guy (blessed with an extra chromosome) to reach his full potential, through therapies, supports, Early Intervention, funding opportunities, etc... I feel very blessed by this.
