Smelly Washer Review & Giveaway

If you follow my blog you know we recently moved. This move meant we would finally get our household goods that had been sitting in storage for a year and a half - including our washing machine.

Let me tell you, after not being used for 1.5 yrs it had a musty-type smell; made worse when, after the first load of laundry.

We have a front-load washer and heard/read that leaving the water around the rubber rim inside and shutting the door before it dries out can contribute to mildew and stench; so we try to be diligent about doing that.

Thank goodness we don't have any visible mild accumulated, but man it sure did stink; so the opportunity for me to review Smelly Washer came just in time - my bottle arrived that week.

Smelly Washer is an all-natural washer cleaner that also safely and easily removes mildew odor from towels and clothing.

Smelly Washer is for front- OR top-loading machines. Instructions from their website: Almost all users of Smelly Washer Cleaner are able to remove odor from their top or front load washing machine by adding a level cap (1 tablespoon) into the detergent dispenser with no clothing in the washer and allowing the washer to complete a hot wash cycle.

It was really easy to use too, just 1 tbsp run through an empty, hot-water cycle. After the cycle finished I opened the door and just smelled 'clean' - there was no bad, musty, mildew-y odor anymore - thank goodness! I have to say it's been a few weeks and still has remained free from any mildew odor.

One bottle = 24 treatments and that = a year supply for $16.99.

Read more about the causes and solutions for mildew odor in washing machines and clothes.

If you'd like to win your own bottle of Smelly Washer please leave a comment on this post and make sure I have a way to contact you if you're the winner.

This is a Mama Buzz review and the product was provided by Smelly Washer.

Oh, that's awesome. We often leave our washer lid open after running the wash, just to make sure it dries out adequately. Mildew-scented clothes = yuck. I'd love to win a bottle. :-)

No front loader here, so skip me on the giveaway, but I'm so glad that you were able to tackle the funk with something that worked. I've read that it is a very common problem and ick! Yuck! A lot of people get rid of their front loaders because of it.

Thanks for passing the word on that there is a nice product out there for people to use instead of re-investing in another washer.

we have a front loader too and get that musty smell. I found leaving the door opened after use helped but it would be great to try this stuff!

I didn't even know that this existed. Rock on! My washer has the musky smell...I think that it's due to the many 100 degree days we've had this summer.

More than once I've accidentally let my towels get "that smell" in the wash. How nice it would be to have something to help out with it right away!

I'd love to try it. We seem to be contending with that smell since my daughter started doing laundry and she frequently forgets to leave the lid open.
