Christina is the winner of the giveaway- congrats!
It's always been a struggle to take Kayla's temperature. She doesn't like people invading her personal space, so 'doing' anything to her is met with much resistance. The 'easiest' way I found was to slide a thermometer under her armpit, but it required me forcefully holding her on my lap and holding her arm down - and I knew a lot of the times it wasn't placed accurately.
As she's gotten older I've tried under the tongue a few times but that doesn't work to well either, she won't keep her lips sealed around the thermometer long enough to get an accurate reading.
The only time I've seen a temp being taken on Kayla easily is at the doctor's office. I watched in awe as they used this thermometer that slid quickly and painlessly across her forehead and was done in seconds...before she could even react!
How wonderful it would be to have one of those at home, I used to think. And now, thanks to a review opportunity, I do have one! And it's every bit as easy to use as I thought it would be.
Thankfully neither of my kids have been sick to need to check their temperatures, but I practiced on their foreheads just to try it out.
The Exergen TemporalScanner is an infrared, non-invasive, thermometer that reads a temperature in just two seconds. It captures the naturally emitted heat from skin over the temporal artery, which runs across the forehead.
The thermometer is so easy to use I'll be able to use it even when the kids are sleeping and it won't disturb them.
It's tested 6 times during manufacturing and tests show it is accurate to withing +0.2 - much more accurate then rectal, oral, axillary, and tympanic.
It's available at nation-wide stores like Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Babies/Toys R Us, and Costco. It retails for under $50 and comes with a one-year warranty.
If you'd like a chance to win your own, visit the Exergen website and leave a comment with one thing you like about this thermometer. Make sure I have a way to contact you if you're a winner.
As a Mama Buzz reviewer, I received an Exergen TemporalScanner for this review from the Exergen company.

I LOVE how it's so quick! When you have a squirming, fussing baby, and you JUST want to know if they have a temperature, or not, seconds seem like a lifetime. Quickness is key, for sure!
Wow Michelle, that's great. I love that you can use it without disturbing them, when my kids are really sick (when you'd want to use a thermometer), they don't want to be messed with.
we just bought this one when our other one got lost (in the couch we later discovered). We love it!
I love how quick it is! My cousins did not even realize I was taking their temps when I used one at my aunt's house.

Oh my gosh! This is VERY cool! I'm such a nut job with Carly. I wake her up (accidentally) while trying to check her temp whenever she's sick. This would be perfect! I didn't even know these things existed. WoW!
I have this one. I love it. xox
I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you encouraging to keep Windmills and Tulips running. I just finished Ella's redesign which we worked hard on for weeks.
My hope is that it reflects my love for her and why we called it Windmills and Tulips.
Anyway, it's because you cared enough to say something.
Thank you, Thank you...... xox
Ohhhh, do we ever need something like this! For all the reasons that you mentioned!
Love that it's used by some many hospitals and pediatricians so we know that it's kid-tested.
I like that it takes ambient temperature into account. That's pretty cool!

I LOVE mine! When Ruby was just a few months old and got her first cold I mentioned to my husband that I would love to have one of those thermometer's like they use at the pediatrician's office and he went out and found this super thermometer for me.Wish I had it with all my other kids when they were babies.
We've got one of those and I really like it. It's quick and easy.
That's a great tool for us parents of kids with Down syndrome - I thought I was being smart and modern to buy Chase the ear thermometer, but with his tiny ear canals there's no way I could ever get an accurate reading! This would completely solve that problem while still making life easy :)
I love that it's so quick and can even be done while they're sleeping. Saves having to wake up the sick kid if you don't have to.
That is just awesome! I have such a hard time getting Mattie's temp. We have the ear type and she has such tiny ear canals it is impossible to get an accurate read. I love how this themometer gives an accurate temp.
These are so cool - I have always wanted one!! I like the possibility of using it while they are sleeping!
An adorable little girl I care for has Asperger's and doesn't like thermometers at all. One of these would sure make life a lot easier!
I like the fact that I wouldn't have to do rectal readings!!
I really like how it is so quick and you wouldn't have to bother them when they are not feeling well.
Thanks for the chance to win!
I love how it was named one of the smartest products of the decade along with the iphone! I agree. This sounds like the answer to my problems. I take the temp 3 times and get 3 different readings. frustrating!

I love that this sounds like it would be so quick and easy! When you have an autistic child with sensory issues you try and find the least invasive way to do anything. marenvargas@gmail.com
Yes please!! LOL. I love when we are in the hospital because they have these --- ok, don't love the hospital, but love the temporal scan. LOL.
I love love love mine. Have had it for several years now and I think I bought mine from Costco. I get a little frustrated with the different readings sometimes but I avg them out.
I like how Exergen's patented technology measures temperatures with a gentle stroke across the forehead.
I love how quickly it works and how easy it is to use!
I too have a child with down syndrome and she hates me doing anything to her! She won't let you put a thermometer in her mouth and won't sit still long enough for one under her arm. Taking her temp is a huge hassle and she's only 6!!
After taking my 3yo to the urgent care with a double ear infection and seeing one of these in action, I never want to stick something in her sore ears again!!!
