We "R" Above

A group of Fayetteville-Manlius High School students have put together a campaign to stop the use of the "R" word. Their campaign is called We 'R' Above and there is a great PSA video on their site as well.

You can also find the group on Facebook.

How nice to see a group of high school students raising awareness to stop the use of the R word, instead of using it themselves!

One of my biggest pet peevs is people using the R word when someone does something stupid. It's just plain wrong. I also hate it when they use the word "gay" that way too - like "That's sooo gay." Totally inappropriate, IMO.

What a great thing. So often, you don't hear a whole lot of good decisions that high schoolers make. (Very sad and unfortunate.) Certainly this is a decision that deserves press.

Awesome!!

I went to school with a fella named Bobby...sweetest guy I have ever known, and SUCH a flirt. :)I adored him, but a lot of the other kids would not let him fit in. The "R" word was rampant at that time.

He was a gem, and smiled right through it. But, I know it hurt.

Good job, kiddos!

How wonderful! Educating one person (school) at a time! What great role models. This should be recognized by all schools (just like the anti-bullying contract)! If all of our fellow bloggers brought this to "our" own city/town school system........imagine the hope (of true acceptance) for our children. I just love reading stuff like this. Change in the way people think "IS" possible!
