31 for 21

Get It Down; 31 for 21

October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month. For the last two years I've participated in "31 for 21" hosted by Tricia at Unringing the Bell.

"31" posts for every day in October for "21" - Trisomy 21. Trisomy 21 is the triplicate 21st chromosome, more commonly known as Down syndrome.

I'm committing to post every day in Oct (not all about Down syndrome!) and hopefully I'll be able to do this for the 3rd year...but I don't even remember the last time I've been able to post 5 days in a row, let alone 31!

If you haven't been a reader of my blog for the past couple of years, here are a few posts I've done for "Down syndrome awareness":
- Characteristics
- 10 Facts About Down Syndrome
- Stereotypes
- Q&A

So here's your chance to ask me questions! Or suggest blog topics...I need a little help filling these 31 days :) Ask me things about Down syndrome, or not about Down syndrome, about Kayla, or me, or Joe, or even Lucas :) Is there anything you want me to blog about that I haven't covered yet?

So today, the start of National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, I'll end with what I have for my Facebook status..."Kayla is out there bringing awareness and shattering myths and misconceptions!"

Thanks for following along on our journey.

I don't have any questions right now... but I'm going to be volunteering at a Young Athletes group for toddlers with Down syndrome, so maybe I'll have some questions for you within the next week or so!!!
By the way, I gave you an award on my blog! Go here to check it out: http://littlebearsworld.typepad.com/1/2009/10/when-life-hands-you-lemons.html

What are your plans for once Joe's back home? Where do you see yourselves 18 months from now?

Because I recall Kayla being a bit of a peanut, what size is she in now and is Lucas catching up to her?

Michelle, I love your new header. She's beautiful. I love this idea and will try and post something everyday.

BTW,something that fascinates me and I haven't seen often in blog world is videos of therapy sessions. It would be a nice post in bringing awareness. I'm going to try to interview Gaby's therapists while videotaping their sessions with her for this month.

Love reading your blog. Your blog will always be special to me. It was my first reading of Down syndrome and first glimpse into blogging. Thank you - you have done a lot to bring awareness to people.

OOoh I love being able to ask questions!!!

Here are some from me:

1. Would you ever consider adopting?
2. Would you ever consider adopting a child with down syndrome?
3. Where do you and Joe (& the kids) plan to be in 5 years? Could you live abroad again? I think I remember your saying you lived in Germany. Will you go back to visit? Where would you like to travel to as a family?
4.How is inclusion going in school for Kayla?
5. If Lucas had been a girl, what name would you have chosen?

Man I can be nosy can't I?
