Dreams Do Come True

Disney's motto about Dreams Coming True is pretty accurate...(as the adult I could complain about how darn expensive everything is - $31 for a double stroller?! Seriously!?) But I'll concentrate on the magical time my kids had instead...because that's what it's all about, right?

I do have to say I'm so thankful for the "Guest Assistance special needs pass" we were able to get and use for Kayla...otherwise there is no way we would have survived waiting in those long lines with Kayla's attention span.

It was great that Lucas was able to ride all the kiddie rides too; otherwise I think he would have been pretty bored. We went on Dumbo, the Cinderella's Carousel, Peter Pan, Snow White, and Winnie the Pooh (I think I'm forgetting something though).

Getting ready to lift off on the Dumbo ride:

I made lunch reservations at The Crystal Palace where Kayla had a birthday lunch celebration fit for a 6-yr old...with Celiac Disease!

The Chef came out and took me around the buffet to show me which items were gluten-free, he brought 2 gluten-free rolls out to the table, and a gluten-free brownie "cake" which Kayla devoured.

But best of all were all the characters we were able to meet.

Lucas didn't want to get close to any of them:

He thought it was funny when Eeyore played peek-a-boo with him,

but he did not want to touch him at all:

Kayla liked meeting all the characters:

I wish I had caught this moment on video...I'm still laughing thinking about it. Lucas had no idea what was coming, but Tigger snuck up behind him, put his arm around his right side, and when Lucas turned to his left and saw Tigger's huge face thisclose to him...well...it totally freaked him out.

I managed to catch this look on his face:

Lucas fell asleep while we were waiting for "It's A Small World" ride...he slept through that and the Peter Pan ride.

Kayla was so excited to meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse:

But the best was yet to come...

Tinkerbell and the Fairies:

Meeting the Princesses...Kayla was in awe...

What a full day we had. We didn't stay for the fireworks (but they saw the Celebration Parade) and we did see the Space Shuttle launch on Kayla's birthday. Ok, we didn't actually see the launch, we saw it in the sky with the plume of smoke, and even though it looked like an airplane from where we were...we knew what it was so that was a neat way to end our day.

i'm glad that the kids had such a wonderful time, other than the scary characters for lucas!
and i can't believe it was really $31 for a double-stroller - that's a little ridiculous.. sheesh!

Glad you had a wonderful time! We loved Disney. We did rent a special needs stroller off-site from a medical supply company. It was about $100 for the entire week and we could use it at the resort, too.

What an absolutely fabulous birthday for your girl! Those pictures brought tears to my eyes - Kayla just looked so thrilled to be there. I LOVE it!!

Will had his 3rd birthday at Disneyland Paris and one of the characters snuck up on Jake (he was 18 months old at the time) and he looked JUST like Lucas....lol

What a great day you must have had :)

What a great celebration for Kayla! Disney is expensive, but worth it! Last time we went, we rented a stroller from an outside company that was much cheaper. My son didn't like the characters that much either, but I'm glad Kayla had a great time!

How magical! You sure did make and awful happy little girl, by taking her to the Magic Kingdom.

I can just imagine the sound coming out of Lucas when Tigger came up behind him. That picture is a riot. Although, I'm sorry Lucas was so frightened.

How great that Kayla got to have such a magical birthday! I know it would have been absolutely perfect if Joe could have been there, but this had to have been the closest to perfection you ever could have gotten without him there. And Lucas is just too funny. :)

Alright...so, I am a bad bloger friend. All the pamphlets got packed up and I can't even access your address you sent me. Could you please send it to me again at this address. thehudsons24@gmail.com

We are flying out of Charleston and head down their on Friday. We have to drop the car off at the port where its going to be stored for the next 3 years and then I was going to try and swing by the housing office and pick up some more pamphlets. Is there anything you would like me to ask them, pick up from them? Will you be buying a house there or living on base? Would you like me to see if they have any floor plans I can pick up for you. I will then head to the post office and mail them off to you. Sorry about letting the others get packed.
