Reading Accomplishment

When you have a child with any kind of special needs, or if they struggle in any area, you get a little emotional when they accomplish something they've been struggling with, or working on.

Although Kayla's known several site words for quite awhile now she's not really been able to read them in books. There is too much to look at on the page with the pictures and other words. Too much going on for her to concentrate on picking out individual words.

She's finally starting to point at the words individually in the books instead of just sliding her finger all over the page. She's starting to read and I can't tell you the excitement I feel watching her. I had tears in my eyes the first time she was reading words in a book several weeks ago.

I love that she is enjoying reading too; I hear her reading her books when I'm putting Lucas to bed. This girl of mine...she makes me proud...she does my heart good.
