Special Exposure Wednesday

5 Minutes for Special Needs

Earlier this week Kayla and Lucas went to their first circus. It was a smaller circus, but it was enough for the kids - they enjoyed it and that's what matters!

Even Lucas stayed captivated for almost the whole first hour (after intermission he was done though)

The 7-man tight-rope walking team impressed me - especially the 10 yr old boy doing the headstand on top:

Even though I thought it was a little bit expensive (and aren't the food prices always outrageous?) it was totally worth it to see the expression on Kayla's face when she rode the pony:

So cute! The circus is a blast for us too but quite expensive as well. lol! I am so glad you all went and Kayla looks so excited to be on that pony!

I tried my ice cream out last week. My store didn't have the one I wanted, but I tried the Coffee flavor. It's pretty good in small increments. I thank you for the opportunity!!

Cute pictures! I won't go to circuses that have animals, but am kind of sad that my kids will miss out on stuff like that just because of unethical practices. I'm hoping we can find local farms & good zoos to help make up for it!

Okay, I don't know what you paid for the pony - but you're right, TOTALLY worth it!

Glad to see the cowgirl and her brother had fun! I never tire of seeing pictures of your kiddos and you do such fun things with them. They are going to have a lot of happy childhood memories.

It is ALWAYS too expensive, but there are only a few years that you get to do the circus....

Yay, Kayla! She looks like a natural up on that horse! The circus sounds like so much fun. I wonder how long Samantha's attention would hold out for something like that, though. Maybe one day...

So much fun!!! Our kids haven't ever been to the circus, but need to. I loved their sweet faces, and Kayla on the pony...priceless!!!

Exactly the same kind of "small" circus will be in Grand Junction of Memorial Day weekend - I'm hoping Krissy plans to take Cameron and Avery. And lots and lots of money, for the food. You're right - it's outrageous - almost as bad as the concessions at a movie. :-)

The thing that makes it worth it is that the kids never ever forget going to the circus - you made some great memories.

While the pictures are sweet :) and I do love reading your blog and have for awhile as a "lurker" I really can't support the any circus with animals. Just search circus/animal abuse and you will get videos and pictures from EVERY circus (even the big ones) the animals are maltreated and forced to work in horrible conditions with injuries and in total fear. They end up eventually either shot or (ideally) in a sanctuary where they simply try to cope with the horrors they've endured. That to me is not entertainment...wild animals belong in the wild and we need to allow them to exist there and stop breeding them in captivity for our amusement. :( This is simply something I feel very strongly about.
