Several weeks ago we took the Metro to DC for the Japanese street fair. This was the kids' first time on the train.
Kayla absolutely loved riding the Metro; it was a whole new experience and she soaked it all in. She loved watching out the windows and exclaiming when we went through a tunnel. Her enthusiasm was infectious - you couldn't help but enjoy the train ride too!
Waiting for the train (it was windy that day):
She didn't know which window to look out of:
Lucas didn't seem to care for it as much:
He decided he better hang on for dear life:
Kayla was very excited when we took the train again last weekend to go to the zoo. Besides the tunnel I think her favorite part is hearing the recording at each stop "Step back, doors closing" because she would repeat it at each and every stop. She got a kick out of saying it.
So if you happen to be riding the Metro throughout DC and hear a cute little voice telling you to "step back...doors closing!" it's probably Kayla :)

I really, really wish we were still there. How much fun would it have been to go to the zoo with you guys?!
I'm glad Kayla likes the new(ish) Metro voice. I think it's a lady that lives in Arlington, IIRC. When it's time for a change again, K should try out. ;-)
She says it so well too in the video! lol Too precious for words!! Also love that picture of Lucas' hand holding on to the pole:-) xoxo
too fun! I love little adventures like that. :) i can totally feel her excitment. :)

We went to the festival last year.. DC was beautiful with all of the cherry blossoms blooming!
GREAT pictures. WOW, Lucas has grown! We will be listening for sweet Kayla once we make it up, for sure!

we took a couple of our boys on the metro in st. louis last summer and they too were thoroughly entertained by the tunnels!
love the one of Lucas' hand on the pole...
Cutie pies!!!
They actually had a huge competition in town for the voice to say that. Too bad she didn't live here then!! So sweet.
Soo cute! Sounds like you all had a blast!
Thanks Michelle for the sweet comment you left me. It's always nice for someone to step in and let you know your not alone. Your kiddos are precious! My daughter is 15 mths so her and your son are close in age. I look forward to following your journey until your hubby comes home too!
Kayla is so beautiful, her smile would light up a room!
Adorable! I have only taken Sammi on the Metro once (shame on me!!), and it was when she was really little. I think she'd love it now. Maybe one of these days. Let me know next time you're in DC or VA on a weekend--we'd love to meet up with you guys!
