Special Exposure Wednesday

5 Minutes for Special Needs
Several weeks ago I let Kayla's teacher know her last day would be the last day before winter break. She was surprised when I told her how soon (as she had been expecting us to leave in Feb, like we originally thought.) She told me how sad she was to hear that. Word spread quickly. Her preschool teacher saw me in the hall and called out "Michelle! I heard a rumor that you guys are moving!" It made me sad just talking about it!

The Friday before Thanksgiving (they were off Thanksgiving week) when I picked Kayla up from school she had this big, rolled up poster in her backpack. When we got home I unrolled it to find this: "My Team At Holloman" and it has pictures of her teacher, classroom assistant, resource room teacher and assistants, and the PT/ST/OT. There were a lot of "aaaaaahhhhh, look what they did!" from me.

Then as I started to roll it back up I noticed something on the back. "We will miss you" and they signed it...with her teacher writing "we love you" and the assistant "I'll miss you." Needless to say I got emotional and a few tears were shed.

When I was taking a picture of the back of this Kayla said "mommy sad?" because she remembered the first time I saw the back I cried!

That's so neat. Doesn't it just melt your heart the way she is so loved by all.

I love your blog. I found it by way of Renee Garcia and Kennedy.

I notice you're at Holomon AFB. My brother and his family were there for 15 years. They moved to SC to Shaw, just 3 years ago. He has since retired out of the military. I wonder if he knew your hubby...hmmm!

Change is so hard, isn't it? What a great gift they gave you - and how cool for Kayla to have a keepsake from her support team.

It's so nice to know that Kayla has touched so many and that she is so loved, and though it's sad to leave those folks, rest assured you will find more of that love here in MD.

SO sweet! That is a very nice thing for them to do. I am sure Kayla (and you) will miss them just as much.

I hope plans are going well and it won't be too crazy. I hope Lucas is doing good too!

That is awesome! I know they will all miss her. I'll be praying that her new school is as great as this one has been. One look at those baby blues and they'll all be captivated by her!

What a wonderful tribute to our little Kayla. It seems they all have become very attached to her through the years they have been her.

What a precious gift and what a sensitive teacher. That will be something wonderful for Kayla to hang up at her new home so she can remember her old friends as she adjusts to new ones.
