Hello Maryland!

Oh my poor neglected blog!

Well we arrived safely in Maryland and are getting a little settled in. Our household shipment should be arriving by the end of next week.

The cross country trip wasn't too bad. Kayla was a pretty good traveler. Although I packed a bag full of stuff for her to do, nothing really kept her interest for more than 5 min at a time; and that's hard when she gets bored so easily! We do have a DVD player and she did watch some movies, but even that gets old after awhile! Lucas, on the other hand, is a good traveler as long as he is sleeping!! Thankfully he did sleep quite a bit on the trip, but when he was done sitting in the carseat, he was done! And he sure let you know he was done. It's hard being stuck in a vehicle with a screaming/crying baby and you can't do anything for them (stopping and taking a break is only a brief reprieve, once he was put back in the seat he was p'oed!) So I'm glad we're done driving for awhile (well except for the 3.5 hrs to NJ when we have to drop Joe off for his month of training.)

My mom and I hit Kohl's today; there isn't a Kohl's in the town I just left so this could be a dangerous thing! They had some great sales going on ... I was able to get pjs for Lucas for $4, shirts and pants for $2 and $3, shirts for Kayla for $1.40/1.80...I think I had a little too much fun shopping!

Then I had a rude awakening at the grocery store. I buy Kayla V8 Fusion. I'm used to paying $3.10 at the commissary on Holloman; I almost fainted when I saw the price at Safeway - $4.19! My goodness groceries are more expensive on this part of the country! I haven't had a chance to price compare at the commissary on Andrews, but I'm guessing it would be pretty similar.

I'm slowly getting used to more people, more traffic, more stores, more restaurants, and more prices! :) Hopefully I'll get back to regular blogging soon.

So how are we spending this new year's eve? Watching Kayla learn to Wii bowl and Wii box! She is so funny when she's punching the bag...her little butt is shaking and wiggling back and forth; guess it helps her put some extra umfph in her punches!

Happy New Year!

Glad you made it safe and sound. I've been thinking of you. Sorry for the rude awakening on grocery prices. Not fun.

Julianna's favorite Wii things are bowling and boxing too. The Disney Princess game is also pretty good, and you can find it for $20 now. She might like that.

Have a great New Year.

I'm glad it all went okay. I'd say a little of Kayla playing Wii on video would be a good blog post!
:0)
Maybe you can order Fusion on Amazon? I don't know, I've heard prices on the East Coast are way higher, does that mean your family wages go up too???
Prayers for Joe. Prayers for your family. That '09 passes safely and quickly.

Glad you made it....sorry it was hard. ugh.

Don't give up on price comparing. It is under $3 at our Walmart and over $4 at our Safeway. Sugar drinks that as well. :)

happy New year!

I'm happy to hear y'all made it there. Babies can be hard to travel with, I know at this time I wouldn't want to have to go on a long trip with mine, lol!

Happy New Year!

You must get Kayla on video while playing. Too cute! My next suggestion would be getting the wii fit. That is some fun!
Have a great day. I hope your adjustment goes smoothly.

Glad you're there, safe and mostly sane. I love Kohl's. Too much.

IIRC, the Andrews commissary was redone recently. If the prices are higher, and I hope they're not, at least you'll get some "pretty" to go along with your groceries. ;-)

Welcome to Maryland - I'm glad you made it safe. As for the $ - welcome to the East coast. LOL

Remember - you have a place to rest when you're in Jersey. I'd also love to make it easier on you to sneak a visit with him here b4 he ships out.

I hope you had an enjoyable NY Eve. We had friends over and it was nice. We haven't "done anything" in years.

I'm glad you made it safely and you're getting settled in.

I'd think the commissary prices would be cheaper than regular public's prices. Here's hoping anyway!

Glad you made it safe and sound. Kayla and Kali would have a blast playing the Wii boxing together, too bad you guys don't live closer. She loves that game.

Happy New Year!

Glad you made it to Maryland safely. My hubby was born in La Plata. Of course, we aren't too terrible far from there. I think about 5 hours. Yes, I agree food prices are crazy! Auldi is my new best friend....they even beat Wal-marts prices.

So glad you made it safe and sound. Praying it's a good of place as New Mexico - you had such a great group of friends there!

Ouch on the V8 - I think we pay about $3.50 and it's always painful :) They have the pomegranite kind in a two-pack at Costco for a better price - don't know if that helps you or not. WTG on the deals at Kohls - that's wonderful!

Take care and have a happy year in 2009!

So, happy you had a safe trip. Adam loves wii also! Wishing you a blessed 2009 in your new home!

Glad you made it safe and with your sanity in tact :) I've been to Maryland a few times. You are way closer to us now we might even have a hope to meet one day :).
Tristan loves Wii boxing and the bowling he is catching on to as well. I'd say every 3 out of 5 tries he lets the ball go. LOL

Welcome to the east coast! When my sister moved to Maryland, we had a rude grocery awakening. Yes, prices are much more expensive there.

We just Wii'd yesterday! I wasn't too bad at the bowling, though the baseball was a little hard. The butt thing? K- was doing it too! -- hee hee!--

So glad that you are all safe and that the family will be able to soon develop a new sense of normal.

I'm so glad you made it to Maryland safe and sound! It's nice that you have your mom to shop with now. And Kohl's is awesome! :)

Keep us posted on how things are going.

glad to hear you made it safe and sound. I live 3 minutes a way from a Kohls. The prices are great in that store! My kids love the wii too. It sounds so cute how kayla plays it!
love ya,

Welcome to Maryland! I had to laugh about the prices! I am always going to Safeway because I don't have time to drive up to Bolling or Andrews. However, when I am able to make those commissary runs -- I am horrified how different the prices are -- for the meat especially. Anyway, welcome to the area! It is expensive but there are so many wonderful and free things to do here, I hope you find the time to check them out!

Blessings,
Denise

I'm so glad you guys are there safe and sound! Groceries are fairly high here, too - it was pretty shocking when we moved.

I'm so glad you had a safe trip! We got quite the shocker when we moved to ND too - the prices are alot higher than in WA. Especially for fresh fruit - I guess that's why I've become a coupon clipper ;)

Glad to hear that your travels went okay. Traveling with kids is always an adventure.

Our food costs here in MO are way more than NC but I had just thought it was because we are not near a commissary. Hmm... I wonder if it is just the area?

Good luck settling in!

Welcome back to Maryland!! Glad you arrived safely. When you get settled let me know if you would be interested in a meet up. I can't remember exactly where you are living but if you are near Andrew's we are not too far away. Happy New Year!
