1. Back in June I mentioned Joe found out he was selected for promotion ... on Mon, after an almost 6-month wait, he was finally promoted and able to put on that new stripe! Definitely grateful for that, but also grateful that both kids did so well sitting (mostly) quietly for the hour-long ceremony.
A not-so-great picture of us ...
So we staged a better one later of us "tacking on" (or punching his arm)
2. I'm grateful for the falling gas prices!
3. I'm grateful for the nice time we had at the base Christmas tree lightning. And that Lucas didn't freak out when I stuck him on Santa's lap. Kayla didn't seem to thrilled to sit on his lap either, which was strange because she was excited to see him, and shook his hand, when he walked by.
4. I'm grateful we survived yesterday's full day - cookie exchange party, Home Depot kid's clinic, birthday party, and a holiday bazaar (where I had a Discovery Toys table). Whew! It helps to be able to split up!
Now time to get back to cleaning and organizing and all of that fun stuff!

Congratulations to your husband. I just wanted to say that I saw your Holland link on the side of your blog and that is one of my most favorites. Never fails to make me cry.
your children are beautiful.
Oh and I don't know if this is bad blog etiquette.. i don't mean to make any uh ohs... but I found you through Jen's site and you'd entered and said you needed shoes for your son. I wanted to let you know that those shoes came from my store and that I'm having a drawing on my site for a free pair of boy shoes also. Deadline is Dec 9th if you'd like to try to win some there also.
Congrats to Joe! I think it's a great family picture! The kids are so cute!

My son Madison is all about the Army, his grandaddy was a Major & in WWII. He is now 11 and still has his sights on going into the Army... this is all he's talked about since he was 3! I showed him your post. Joe and your family are great roll models for kids like Madison! THANKS!
