Another Month Gone By

And Lucas is now EIGHT months old.

The big milestone this month was popping 2 bottom teeth through. (If you click on the picture you can see those pearly whites a little better). I don't know who it was harder on; you or me. Nursing+teething=ouch! Thankfully it only happened 3x all in one day, and hopefully it won't happen again when the top teeth start coming through!

You love to cruise everywhere and have mastered going from one object to another. You rarely stay in a sitting position anymore, and you definitely don't like to be put in a sitting position. You'd rather stand thankyouverymuch!

Speaking of standing you stand for several seconds without holding on to anything. I thought by this point you would be standing for minutes at a time; what with the rate you were zooming through gross motor milestones! You seem tentative and unsure when you realize you're not holding on to anything. You do have pretty good balance and control though. When standing by yourself you usually get down slowly in a squat position, or lunge forward to me.

You took 2 steps in a row yesterday. They were nice, solid, sure steps too...not the half-lunge, half-step you've been doing. After I got all excited and cheered you refused to be put back in a standing position - guess I freaked you out a bit with my "YAY LUCAS!" cheer!

You don't particularly care for drinking water out of a bottle, but you sure seem to like it from an open cup!

Your sister loves for you to follow her down the hallway and go play in her room. She likes helping out with anything to do with you. If she so much as hears you grunting she'll say, "Lucas poo poo!" and runs to get the diaper basket. If we leave the table for a minute she'll hurry up and get in our chair so she can give you a bite to eat. She likes playing peek-a-boo with you. That came in handy when we were driving to Roswell and you started crying. She started playing that game and before too long you were both giggling away...it warmed my heart to hear that sound!

You had been pretty consistent with waking up between 5-530, but now all of a sudden you've been waking between 4-430. That's just not nice...especially to your daddy since his alarm goes off at 5! It would be nice if you could reset your internal clock. Or even if you could just lay there quietly playing in your crib until you fall back to sleep. Do you absolutely have to scream and cry at the top of your lungs? Must you sound so ticked off just because you've woken up and no one has come to rescue you?

You also seem to be permanently attached to me. Wherever I am in the house you have to be. It's not enough to just be near me either. I either have to be holding you, or you have to be holding on to my legs. It's very hard to get anything done this way. You're perfectly fine when I'm not around, or if we're at someone's house. You're fine when I drop you off at MOPS...you go off and explore and play. But at home is something else. Oh the crying and hurt feelings because I walked by and didn't pick you up! As much as I like having the sling and being able to carry you that way, I just can't carry you around like that all day long. I need bathroom breaks you know!

It seems like you're starting to clap, but only when you have something in your hands to bang together -and oh how you love to bang things! You bang things together, on the floor, on the wall, on your tray.

The best thing is hearing your giggles when I blow raspberries on your tummy. I don't think there is any sweeter sound than a baby's laughter!

Happy 8th months!

Eight months already!!! I know your mommy and daddy are anxious for you to grow but it's so hard hearing about all the baby things sliding away and not being able to see some of them.

These are sweet reminders of each passing month. He's almost ready to take off after big sister. I remember my little one had a problem with biting and nursing for a while. It was a little stressful. But, he got over it, and nursing was back to normal.

Wow sister, where has the time gone? Such a beautiful little man he is! Those eyes...WOW! Did I ever officially thank you for the baby clothes you sent? If not, THANK YOU! We're pretty set with the rest of the year's worth of sizes, but I have a good friend who could really use sizes from 6 months to a year in boy clothes. She and her husband are having some hard financial times and could really use the blessing of some gently used hand me downs, so let me know if you're needing to get rid of some of those sizes. I'll pay you for shipping!
Love, Sarah
