Boston Recap

We returned home from Boston on Mon evening; unfortunately that morning started off with Lucas waking up with a runny nose...which has now developed into a hoarse-sounding cough. He was nice enough to pass this on as now Kayla and I have stuffy noses! I hope it doesn't get too much worse by Saturday though - that's her joint bowling birthday party with Katelyn!

We didn't have access to a computer for 5 days and I told Joe I felt so out of touch, but it also felt good to be "unplugged" while we were gone.

Boston was amazing! It was the first time we attended a convention, and it won't be the last. Joe is already talking about making plans for the next one in Sacramento!

We live in a pretty small town so there is no support group here, we hardly even see anyone else with Down syndrome. The support and connections I make are on-line and the annual Buddy Walk that we attend 2 hrs away. So to see so many individuals with Down syndrome was just an incredible feeling. Everywhere we went we would see a family with either a baby, child, teenager, or adult, with Ds. What an experience it was to celebrate that extra chromosome!

I have so many pictures to share, it was hard to narrow it down and not go picture crazy with this post! :)

Friday morning we had breakfast at Quincy Market with Kristen, Francine & Sofia, Rebecca & E, and Amy & Mayson

Then we walked around Faneuil Hall (and afterwards we took Kayla to the Children's Museum)

Kayla was entranced with this performer/musician

We met Chris Burke

and Ashley Wolfe - actress in Mr Blue Sky

Had a great time meeting blogger friends like Jessica (sans Joey!) Thanks for "making" me have a drink with you guys on Fri night Jessica LOL

Laura & Ryan and her girls Kelsey and Mackenzie

Jennifer (author of Roadmap To Holland ), Kathryn (editor of Gifts), Rebecca, Tricia, and Amy

We walked a lot around Boston and Kayla got to ride on Joe's shoulders most of the time. Here we are heading to lunch with Emma Sage (and her brother Otto), and Laura's husband Mark with Ryan.

Had a July kids' birthday celebration with Alex (2nd), Adam (12th), and Kayla (15th).

9 moms from the T21 Board and the kids who brought us together

On Sunday we went to the aquarium, but just couldn't get a big group shot there as the kids were going every direction! We did get to meet up with "old" friends again (we met Garrett's family when Kayla was 9 months old!) Isn't he cute?! Melissa and I are anticipating a future couple here!

and a semi-group shot outside the aquarium

YAY.. glad you are back. Thanks for the things you said about my "100 Things about Me" post.

I think about it all the time how she's missing out on her grandkids! She's the one who will not get to enjoy the time with them! They are the stars in my life.

Have a great day!

I hope all of your colds go away quickly, feel better!

WOW! That looks like you had a great time. I've always wanted to go, we too live in a small town. Our support isn't great. One of the boys in your pics looks like my Jonathan. This was a great post.

Oh, Michelle! I'm both jealous and thrilled. How wonderful. I will definitely hunt one down and attend next year. Is this one in Boston every year? Because that would be closer to us than Sacramento.

Sounds just wonderful! We don't live in an urban area but found that we had 3 children with Down Syndrome within a square mile- we live across the street from one of them! It is really cool! You all look so happy in your wonderful pix.

She lives a whopping 30 minutes away from me.

Soooo no fair!

It looks fun and exhausting, (sorry I speak from a mother of a toddler's perspective.) Sorry about the cold too, we got it also. Yucky. On a side note, I have no idea how I missed putting you in my Favorite Mommies sidebar. Will fix that ASAP

Thanks to Google Reader for suggesting your blog! It's my first visit and I'm enjoying my stay. Glad to see that you're considering Sacramento next year. It's 3 hours from us (recently PCSd) and it would be lovely to be able to meet. You have a beautiful family!
