Grains of Gratitude

1. I'm grateful for the free root beer floats A&W gave away on Monday - we went after dinner and it was such a nice treat; and they taste even better when they are free! :)

2. We signed Kayla up for summer school which started this week. She'll still have plenty of time to enjoy summer - it's only 3 hours a day, 3 days a week, for 3 weeks in June and July. And she'll miss the week after next because we're going to Arizona (yes, another road trip!) The summer school is in a different school then she's gone to the past 2 years, so different location, different teacher, different kids and I wasn't sure how she would take it all. I didn't need to worry! The week before she went to VBS and didn't know those volunteers and kids and she did fine. She did fine at summer school too. We walked in to the classroom and she made herself right at home and didn't even flinch when I left. I'm so glad she likes school and is excited to go.

3. It has been so so so hot here - 100+ every day, so we can't really go outside to play, but on Friday morning it was a little more bearable being in the high 90s :) We had a little bit of a breeze so I took the kids to the playground (it helps that there is a canopy over the slide set and the swings!). I even put Lucas in the baby swing for the first time and he loved it! I didn't bring my camera because I hadn't thought about doing that, so no pictures of his first time swinging (bad mommy blogger!)

4. I'm grateful for Bunco on Friday night -it's nice to get a little break and have some fun. We were short a few players though so Joe came along and played :) Kayla got to play with Katelyn and AJ and we had a fun family game night LOL

5. I'm grateful we had a little more reprieve of the 100+ degree weather on Sat. The high was "only" 91 and earlier in the day it was 88 so we were able to hang out in the backyard for awhile. Kayla ran around in the splash rocket, Lucas chilled out in the exersaucer, then we had a picnic lunch...I only wish our weather could stay like that more often - we're already back to 100+ this week!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

Hope you get another break from the weather soon.

Wow, your temps put ours on the coast to shame. I thought our high nineties were bad - and now things have broken and we're back in the high 70's. My sympathies are with you - kids and the heat can be a bad combo! Glad there were floats to help out!

Glad you got a short reprieve from the heat. It's just barely starting to feel like summer here in Utah. Lucas is getting so big. He's a cutie!
