I Just Realized...

that I should probably post something so people don't think I'm in the hospital having a baby! Nope! Not yet anyway. Joe will update when that happens!

I did have an appointment on Mon (what is up with these long wait times lately? This time was another hour! Is it this long at other OB offices?!) and really not much to report. He said I was "50-60% effaced" this time. So not much progress!

I have to admit, when I found out 2 wks ago that I was 50% effaced, even though I knew it didn't really mean anything, I know you can stay like that for weeks, I still thought I was going to have this baby soon! I told Joe on Sun morning that I really didn't think I was going to make it to 38 wks, but here we are and now I find myself getting anxious. Every morning I find myself wondering if today is THE day! So I still have 2 wks, I'm not thinking about the 2 wks on the other side of the due date; I really don't want to go late.

Not much else has been happening around here; except a couple blogger awards I need to acknowledge!

Kristiem gave me the Thank you so much! This award was started here.

I'd like to pass it on to some bloggers who live in other countries:
Shelley
Karen
Me
Leanne
Christina

Karen gave me this one: I don't consider myself a "cool" mom by any stretch of the imagination, but thank you for you thinking so! :) I'm passing this one on to:
Chelle
Sandra
Melissa
Beck
Corey

I was wondering about you! I hope you don't go late, either - that's no fun.
Thanks so much! I don't think I'm a cool mom either, but it's lovely to hear.

I was beginning to wonder if you were in the hospital :)

Last Monday when we were there for the unexpected visit we waited for almost 45 minutes. I was not a happy camper! I told Mike my next appt. I'll just call him at his job when my name gets called so he doesn't have to take so much time off of work (he works about 5 min. from the clinic).

Congratulations on the awards.

For the next two weeks, may you have good sleep so that, for the next two months after that, you'll be up all night holding your baby and thinking how blessed you are.

(Wow. That's 33 words there.)

:)

PS. Take pictures after you deliver. Lots of them. With the flash. And of Joe.

That way, he'll be the one awake caring for the baby.

We have 2 OB's in our town and an hour at their office is less than the typical wait time-well its like that at the regular doctors office as well!!!LOL!

I was wondering about you too! You are getting so close - those last few weeks drag on don't they?

Thanks for the award! I'm honored you think I'm cool :)

Eek! I was one who went over - three weeks over with my daughter!!! Even if it's because they missed my due date in the first place, it was miserable! But she's made up for it. :) Can't wait until your little one is here and has a pronoun. :) Congrats on your awards!

Being a cool mom all depends on how you define cool mom if you ask me. I'm not sure I'm one either, but when I saw a spread in Parents magazine talking about moms with tattoos I thought maybe I'm cooler than I really know. ;)

That wait in the OB office sounds pretty standard to me, Michelle. I think they book the appointments too close together for one thing, and all it takes is one baby deciding to be born in the morning to mess up the doctor's whole schedule. Honestly, it's a wonder more people don't go into labor right there in the waiting room, they sit there for so long.

Hey! Maybe that's why they call it the "waiting" room! Very clever name. LOL

Very cool awards. I was wondering if you'd gone to the hospital. Very typical wait time.

I used to work at an OB office in CT and our patients used to get soo upset b/c of the wait. There are several reasons for the OB's tardiness:

1) called away to deliver a baby

2) the triage (the girls who handle on the non-appointment calls) has them in the office going over the latest serious calls to see what the doctor wants the patient to do (either get squeezed into the already crammed schedule or the hospital for admitting)

3) attempting to eat lunch before they pass out b/c they've been at the hospital since early that morning, have already delivered babies, and seen a whole lot of patients and it's now 2pm and they really need to eat so that they can function.

4) catching up on the charts so that by the end of the day, they haven't forgotten why a patient came in and what the problem was, etc.

5) they just need a moment of silence to regain their composure

Anyway...you'll be holding your sweet little one soon!
