Grains of Gratitude

I get much less computer time on the weekends when it's just Kayla and me; but I'm finally getting my gratitude post up! I wonder how much I'll get to blog the week after next as Kayla will be off for 10 days. Yes TEN days! She's usually off on Wed, but for some reason this week they have school on Wed and are off on Fri. So starting with Fri, the weekend, Mon-Tue "fall break", Wed-Fri Thanksgiving break, and then the weekend again...that equals 10 straight days of no school. I wouldn't be surprised if I pull all my hair out! LOL

Now on to the things I'm grateful for:

1. Our MOPS group did an Antiquities fundraiser; I'm grateful it went so well and we made a lot of money for our group. I'm also grateful that we sold enough coupons so all the Steering team members could get a free package...yay! They're kind of expensive, so I'm glad I didn't have to pay for a package of pictures this year!

2. Parents were invited to school to eat a "Thanksgiving luncheon" with their kids; I met Kayla in her classroom and went to lunch with her. She really seemed to enjoy having me there and I enjoyed seeing a little part of her day and how she interacts with the other kids and follows along with the routines. She seems to have such fun there.

3. I belong to Vocalpoint and several months ago I participated in a research project where I tried out NoodleNet and kept a diary of each time I/Kayla used it. I forgot all about the reward I was supposed to receive for participating since it was months ago; so I was very surprised, and grateful, to get a $50 Target gift card this week!

4. I mentioned I'm authorized 15-minute morale calls and I get 18 of these "units." I'm grateful these can be used how I want and after 15 minutes we don't get cut off automatically. If I go over 15 min that just means I'm using another unit. So if I wanted to talk to Joe for an hour, I could, I just have to realize that is 4 units. Last night we talked for 1/2 an hour and it was nice, I guess I had a lot to say!

5. I'm grateful for the nice day Kayla and I had yesterday (despite the fact that she wouldn't eat anything for lunch or dinner...sigh...). Both grandmas called yesterday asking if we did a Lowe's project and if I posted any pictures yet! Yes we did do a project - a turkey recipe holder - and here is a picture:

She had the most fun coloring it with the markers afterwards. Gas is now over $3, so instead of wasting a trip in town for this quick project we went to the zoo afterwards. Kayla really enjoys feeding the ducks there, so it was nice day!

I love the recipe holder!! Of course we've loved all the projects because Kayla has made them with her own sweet little hands. I remember school breaks and boy you're right you won't get much done! :-) I have seen first hand how much Kayla enjoys the ducks at the zoo so I'm sure you made her day when she got to go feed them.

Love the Turkey holder...gas was $3.20 here today...ugh.

Great news on the fundraising. And even better the call to Joe. Aviva would love to play with Kayla so if you are pulling your hair send her here. Earlier came to your blog and then stepped away, and Aviva sat here and scrolled through it and watched the video. She loved it!

HUGS!

Reading about your trip into town with Kayla made me a little nostalgic for the spring right before Mason was born. Really cherish these 1:1 times, since the days are numbered! You can still get away for a little mommy-daughter time, but it's hard to leave a baby. You know how it goes. And it's never quite the same! Going from one child to two is such a huge leap, and also a wonderful blessing. Your post just made me think of that.

Okay I really feel for you. Ten days!!! I'm halfway through 4. Thankfully no misshaps, meltdowns or any such nonsense. I do hope your 10 days is a breeze like my last 2. Knock on wood that the next 2 are just as great!

Hi Michelle and Kayla! I always appreciate these posts because yes, we do have things in our lives that we wish were different, but we have so much to be thankful for!

Our gas was $3.29 the last time I was out! I about drove off the road!

I hope you two girls have a wonderful week. Still praying for all of you and happy that you are over half way there with Joe!

I love your Grains of Gratitude... I may steal your picture and use it on my own :)

Thanks so much for putting that challenge out there for "31 for 21" - I realize now that I took a week off how much I did enjoy taking my time with my blog. I love reading yours.

Hope you have a great rest-of-the-weekend!

Michelle, I'm so glad to hear that you got to talk to Joe last night! That must have been wonderful!!!

Wow! 10 days of your little girl at home all day! I'm sure ya'll will have loads of fun, even though it might be extremely tiring.

Cool project, Kayla! It's an adorable recipe holder.

Gas here is over $3.50 a gallon. They're saying that by next year, we'll be paying $4 a gallon!

Oh, I posted my Grains of Gratitude at my new blog.

I think I would LOVE for the kids to be out for that long -right now...too much going on for us.

Anyhow I would love to do the lowes thing too-the nearest one to our house is 50 miles so its on hold for now.

I havent been on the computer much lately either...kinda miss it.

You sure named your blog right...Kayla's eyes grab me everytime! (as do most blueberry items I see...you know, like muffins and cobbler, etc. lol) She's the cutest kid, I swear. It's going to be tough for this next one to compete with that face! Glad things are going well for you. Good luck with your 10 days "vacation" time. (ha,ha)

You do have much to be thankful for. YOur posts always remind me to be thankful also. That is a long time for Kayla to be out of school. I can sympathize. Since my son is older, he usually occupies himself nowadays, but when he was younger...it was hard!

I just filled up with gas so I feel your pain on the gas prices.

Glad you got to talk to hubby. That must be very uplifting!!

Have a great week.
