Kayla and I

went to our first Lowe's Build and Grow Kids Clinic. We made a squirrel/bird feeder and I think Kayla had a pretty good time!

Of course I forgot my camera so there are no pictures of Kayla actually working on this project and banging away with the hammer! Although there are plenty of hammer marks all over this feeder!

The kids get to keep the goggles and apron; when you complete the project you get a patch to sew on your apron. Each time you go to one you get another patch to sew on the apron.

Kayla really liked the apron! She didn't want to take it off when we got back to the van, so she rode home with it on. She even left it on for about an hour after we were home.

She's putting the goggles back on for me to take a picture.

See what we made!

I think her grandpa would be proud! If he was here he would probaby ask what color we want him to stain the wood! :)

This was a fun project to do on a Saturday morning and I think we'll be participating in these workshops more often! Lowe's has 2 workshops a month.

You can also go to The Home Depot Kids Workshops too. They have one on the first Saturday of every month.

How neat! Kayla looks like she had a great time! Regarding the Buddy Walk...if you'll send me the link to your team, I'd like to also post that on my blog as well (if that's okay with you). Hope your having a good weekend!

I had no idea Lowes (or Home Depot) did such a neat thing. With no little ones in the home any more, I am sadly out of touch. I'm going to tell my dils about this though. I think the grands would love it!
Tell Kayla she did a super job. And I love her apron and goggles.
Praying all of you are doing well.

Our kids love to go to the Home Depot events for kids. They've made 3 projects now. They always come home with a sense of accomplishment!

Hope everything is going well with you guys this week!

I have heard about that program. It's good to know that it is fun for the kids. Sometimes I wonder if these programs are well done/thought out.

I love the bird feeder! What a great way to spend a Saturday morning.

I came here from Renee's Ramblings. You have a beautiful little girl. My grandson Seth was born with Down. I went back and read your comments right after Kayla was born and can understand those feelings. You are so brave to be able to express them here. But, now as time has gone by I see you know Kayla is a true blessing from God. As time permits, I'll be back to read more of your older posts.

What a great project Lowe's provides for kids. All my grandchildren would really get a kick out of this.

What a great thing to do! Since my granddaughter's in Japan, I'm trying to think of any local kids around here I could take to one of these! Wonder if Lowe's would give ME an apron and some goggles. lol
Kayla's a cute as ever, too. Love a kid who can build something!!

I keep trying to regester, but the site is being silly. The next project is a cute little picture frame. That would be perfect for John and Shaylee to do together. And it would giv me some time alone!

Tell Kayla she looks adorable. What a fun way to spend time with your little one. You have a very nice bird feeder too. Hammer markes are memories you'll never forget. Hope the rest of your weekend is just as great.

How cute! I'm so glad she had so much fun. I'm sure it's good to take her mind off of daddy being gone.

I'm sure grandpa will have plenty of projects for him and Kayla to do the next time she comes to visit. He's always looking for a good little helper :-)

I love it. J used to work for Lowe's, so we have one of those aprons too. Actually, I dressed Kayla up as J (in his work outfit) for her first halloween (she was the spitting image of him). I think Kayla will enjoy those when she's a bit older. Love the pics.

Thanks for the comments on the workshop. The Home Depot in our area does a similar thing and I've wondered about taking W.W. to it too. He's 26 1/2 months and I'm not sure that's quite old enough yet but I'm still thinking about it. He loves hammering things. ;)
