Grains of Gratitude

I should just let the pictures tell the story for today's Grains of Gratitude!

1. My MIL had an 8 hr drive home on Monday, I'm grateful she had a safe trip and no bad weather (rain) like she had when she arrived.

2. I'm grateful school started back on Tuesday and so far the transition has gone smoothly for Kayla...she seems to enjoy it! Tell me this child isn't happy to see the school bus!

3. On Thursday I had an appt with the perinatologist. She's the same doctor who saw me during my pregnancy with Kayla. I'm not considered "high-risk" but I do have a slightly increased risk due to having a child with Down syndrome, so I had an initial appt with her. Everything went well and we got to see the little 12-week old baby on u/s again. She'll have 2 more follow-up appts with me for structural ultrasounds (just to check the organs etc.) Joe took off work and brought Kayla to the appt. We thought she might find it interesting to see the baby on the screen AND we hoped that by her watching me in the doctor's office and being calm about it she would see there was nothing to it. Didn't exactly happen that way. As soon as we started down the hallway she kept saying "no" even though we told her it was for mommy and not her. She sat with Joe on the chair and when I laid down on the table she kept saying "Mommy down. Daddy bye bye." over and over, and over again. She said it with this little quiver in her voice like she was trying not to cry. She wasn't interested in what was on the screen at all. I told her I was happy and not scared, but she just wanted out of the room. The next morning I caught her going through my purse and the u/s pics. I asked her "Kayla what's that?" and she said, "A baby!" - now how come she wasn't that interested in seeing "a baby!" on the u/s screen! LOL

4. I'm grateful for Bunco on Friday! I hadn't played in a couple of months (we were gone in June and it was cancelled in July because too many people were gone.) It was nice to play again and have the time to chat with the other ladies and eat some good food!

5. I'm grateful for our little county fair that only costs $1 for adults to get in (and free for under 5)! We took Kayla on Sat. She was fine when we got there...played one game, rode the merry-go-round and then after that it was too much sensory overload for her. She wouldn't talk out loud - only whisper or mouth the words; Joe had her on his shoulders and she would barely move. We went in the building with all the vendors and she was perfectly fine in there running around. She was like that last year too; we just have to realize that after about an hour she's done!

She was loving the merry-go-round. "Look mommy! horse! a'mon, a'mon!" as she grabbed my hand and pulled me over there.

"Bye mommy! Bye bye!"

And what would a fair be like without cotton candy?

Making sure she shoves it all in there - like it's going out of style or something!

Those 4D pictures are so cool! 12 weeks! :) I sure hope, for your sake, that she gets over the doctor fear soon... It's a hard one, isn't it?

Your daughter is the most precious child! And, really, I'm with her on the whole "an hour's long enough at the fair" thing! lol Too much noise and too many people and I start to feel like a grumpy old woman...then it's time to GO.

Thanks for defining the u/s pictures. I've never been able to "see" what they're actually showing. They're like those pictures that you're supposed to stare at for an hour and THEN you see what's "hidden". Only I could stare at an u/s picture for 3 years and STILL probably wouldn't see what I'm supposed to. lol

LOL! I love the second picture of Kayla eating her cotton candy! I think I would do the same ;o)

And thank you for sharing those amazing pictures of your baby! Having never experienced a pregnancy I find this all fascinating. I can't remember is you told us or not, but will you find out the baby's sex?

What beautiful pics, Kayla looks so happy waiting for the School bus and having great fun at the fair. And that ultrasound, so clear and marvellous! So pleased to see some of the latest pics and know all is well.

Kayla and I feel the same way about cotton candy.

Phenomenal pictures! How exciting for you guys! It's awesome that you are having a couple more ultrasounds - that means more pictures that you can share with Joe.

So glad that Kayla loves school. I love seeing my children happy and learning at the same time.

Yay for a good week!

The video store where we get movies on Friday has cotton candy and Brenna just discovered this last week. It's now her favorite treat to beg for. They love that stuff!

Cute pics, my favorite is of her with the bus coming in the background.

Will you find out the sex of #2?

Hi! I have really enjoyed visiting your blog. Thanks for sharing the ultrasound pictures...so awesome! Congratulations on Baby #2. I also love this idea of "Grains of Gratitude". Do you mind if I post my own "Grains" on my blog? What a neat idea...a great way to keep a positive perspective on life.

AWWWWW great pictures! I have never seen a 12-week ultrasound. Mine, all 3 kids, were done at 4 months and none after that. Love the cotton-candy-gobbling pic and the schoolbus! Ours starts in 2 weeks...yay!

Is it possible that Kayla is getting cuter?

Fairs make me feel overloaded so I can imagine how Kayla felt!

I love this post, Michelle. So many happy things going on! And I really love seeing the new baby because you and Krissy are at almost the same exact point (days apart) in your pregnancies and it shows my what my new granchild looks like. :-)

Kayla is adorable. She always is of course, but she's especially cute in these photos.

And yay for Bunco! I'm a sub now so I don't play very often but I agree with you...it's just a fun evening with the girls AND good food. What's not to love about that!

It's going to be great "going through" this pregnancy with you. I'm just so sorry that Joe has to be gone for a lot of it. I love the sonogram pictures--we certainly never had anything like that just 10-15 years ago when I was having my children. Congrats again.
