Grains of Gratitude

One more day until we're home! Then I can get back to my regular routine of commenting on all your blogs! That is of course after the week it'll take me to "catch up" being home!

I can't believe we started our road trip 3 weeks ago - in some ways it's gone by fast - it doesn't seem like we've been gone for 3 weeks, but in other ways it has felt like we've been gone forever!

Things I'm grateful for this week:

1. I'm grateful we had a safe, and uneventful, drive from MD to OK. I know Kayla is bored in her car seat (being forced to sit in one place for so long is hard on my child, who never stops moving!). She's been a good trooper though, and we have plenty of DVDs to help pass the time.

2. I'm grateful for the opportunity to meet so many people on this road trip! It's amazing how many other bloggers lived on the route we took! Everyone has been just as I imagined them to be - sweet, kind, generous, funny, and friendly.

3. I'm grateful our next door neighbor (and his son) are keeping an eye on our house and mowing our lawn (because goodness knows, in base housing you can't go 3 weeks without mowing your lawn or you will get written up!) I can't imagine not mowing it for 3 weeks though - it would be seriously overgrown!

4. I'm grateful a guy Joe works with is stopping by to feed the fish, we only have 2, but they do need to be fed!

5. I'm grateful, most of all, for my husband! He humors me and doesn't mind that we stopped to visit all my blogger friends. I think he even enjoyed meeting them as well!

6. I'm grateful that he's such a wonderful father to Kayla; I love watching them together. I could go on and on and make a list about his qualities, but I know I've mentioned them before throughout this blog. And if I've told him once, I've told him a thousand times...he knows how I feel about him, and his parenting skills! He knows I admire him for his patience, and I think he makes such a wonderful dad for our little girl. Happy Father's Day Joe, I love you!

Suffice it to say, Kayla loves her daddy too! Especially when he does fun things like throw her up in the air when they're in the pool! I think if you click on the picture it will enlarge and you can see the expression on her face.

And Happy Father's Day to all the other fathers out there!

Happy Father's Day Joe! I love the picture of Kayla in the air~she looks like she's having a blast. I can't believe it almost been three weeks either. I hope this vacation has left you rested and refreshed. But in reality we all know vacations do't leave you feeling rested! But at least you've had a wonderful time getting to meet so many new friends! Still praying for your safety. Hugs, Amy

Much to be thankful for Michelle. Hope you all have a happy Father's Day and safe rest of the trip home. I'm sure home is going to look very good after three weeks away. Nothing like sleeping in your own bed.
And I'm with Kayla. I'm not happy sitting in one spot for too long either. Sounds like she's been a real trooper.

That's just the greatest photo, him tossing her up in the air, Michelle.

I'm amazed how many blogger friends you got to meet on this trip. I can just see you, going down the highway, thinking, OK, now who lives close to where we are right now. LOL

I'm sure being away for three weeks feels like forever. How lucky you are to have friends keeping an eye on everything for you while you're gone, but I know you'll all be happy to get back home. I know Kayla will be happy to say goodbye to that carseat for a while!
