Home?

You know your vacation is either too long, or too boring, when your child says, "home" only 3 days into it!

Yes, last night Kayla kept saying/asking for "home" and poor kid, she has no idea how much longer we'll be travelling!

We were in OK for a couple days with the in-laws and now we're in St Louis for 2 nights. Last night Kayla kept saying "home" and she's never asked for home before! She'll say "home!" when we turn down our street, or pull into the carport, but she's never asked for home while we've been out.

I wondered if I misunderstood her and maybe she was asking for help with something. So I tried that, "help?" and Kayla said "no." I said, "home?" and she said, "yeah." I said, "you want to go back in your car seat and drive?" which Kayla responded with "yeah, a'mon (come on) Mommy, 'mon"

I was surprised she wanted to actually get back in her car seat! After an almost 10 hr drive yesterday I figured she was done with that!

So as I said, we're in St Louis today. We thought we would go to the zoo, but it's raining. So we went to the St Louis Science Center for a couple of hours where Kayla just had so much fun!

We're going to have an IRL get-together with some families I "met" from a Down syndrome message board! Actually Becky and Andrew met us at the Science Center and Becky is hosting a BBQ at her house this evening with 3 other families from the message board - I'm so excited!

Pictures will have to come later after we get back home; I forgot the cable to be able to download the pictures! Oops!

Tomorrow will be another day on the road, unfortunately for Kayla it's not the road back home!

Awww....how sweet is that! And sad at the same time. Hopefully she'll continue to have lots more fun and when you get back home she'll ask you to go back in the car!

Enjoy your IRL. I'm jealous! Can't wait to see pics.

Darn. I was hpoing to see some new pictures. That is too cute that she wanted to get ack in her seat. After a long drive to Illinois once, Rhiannon cried when we got in the car to run to get pizza, so I sent someone else to get it. I'm so gla you got a chance to meet some people IRL (yes, I know that one!!) that you met online. That's great. I really can't wait to see pictures. I hope you have a great time.
love you!!

I hope you're having fun! Too sweet that your baby is homesick, she's probably just wondering when you're going home. They really just have no concept of time, do they!

Hope you're having a great time. My book arrived this week, fabulous thank you so much and also for the card! My daughter was excited believing Kayla had written to her and keeps talking about jumping on a plane to meet Kayla. Have a wonderful break.

When I was little I always loved home best too (still do really). It was because it was always filled with such love and warmth. I am sure that is how it is for Kayla - which says a lot for the home you have Mom!
Have a wonderful time. Stay safe.

My hubby is from St. Louis. It is such a great city for some family fun! The zoo and Grant's Farm are great. There is a FABULOUS children's museum in Kirkwood, but it isn't free. If you have a few bucks to spend, The Magic House is so much fun. Hope to see some photos! Have a wonderful time together!

Have a super fun vacation! It is nice when your sweetie loves home though - but she is going to love the adventure too! Safe traveling.

Poor Kayla. It's hard being away from home. They get so used to their routine and toys. But I'm glad she is having fun.

That will be so great to meet everyone from your message board. How wonderful. I've made some "real" friends out of my "infertility message board friends". Nothing like being surrounded by people who truly understand.

Have fun!

Sometimes we all want to go home, until we realize there is this amazing big world to explore. You're doing a great thing to let Kayla see part of the biggness. Enjoy.

Kayla is like me. A couple of days away is enough, and then I prefer the home front. Kayla is such a pretty one.

I know you're having fun, but I guess, Kayla, like me, likes to sleep in her own bed!
