Kayla had an ENT appt this morning. Unfortunately it was not news I wanted to get. There is fluid in one of her ears; he said it didn't look infected so antibiotics probably wouldn't take care of it. He said we could wait 6-8 wks to see if it clears up, but considering her history (she has had 2 previous sets of tubes) he said more than likely it won't and we'll need to schedule surgery for tubes again.
She had tubes put in about 1.5 yrs ago and I was really hoping since she's been ok since then that we (she) wouldn't have to go through this again.
I have a date to chose from in March and 2 dates in April. So I'll check our schedule and figure out which one to go with.
Needless to say I was bummed when we left the appt. And it was too windy to even go to the zoo like we have the last couple of times.

Awww, that's not good. :( All the best for the surgery, I hope it all goes perfectly. :)
Awwww man. I didn't want to hear that news either. Of course you know I'll be saying a prayer for her. I know it'll go fine. Let me know which date you choose for the surgery. Will she have to be just sedated or completely unconscious?
love you.

I'm so sorry Michelle. I'm going to pray that the Lord will take care of that fluid in her ear. If she does have to have surgery, we'll just pray her safely through it - and you too Mom :-)

Aw, crap. Sorry to hear about the tubes. Poor Kayla. Wishing you both well.
T
well that just stinks. iam not fond of tubes at all so it makes me sad for her. :(
Lets hope those 6 weeks turn things around. They can drain, so lets hope.
Michelle, hopefully, Kayla will get a growth spurt in the next six weeks and that will enable the tubes in her ears to stretch longer and fluid will drain and she won't need the surgery!! :) In the meantime , I will look in one of my heatlh books to see what else can be done. Yesterday just was not one of those special days. :( Love Mom kisses for "my little Kayla"

I know exactly how you are feeling right now. Jaden is 24 months, and we just heard for the 1st time a few weeks ago that he had a little fluid in his ears and that it was not infected either. They also said to come back in 6 weeks to re-check and if it was still there they would recommend tubes. Well, in being fortunate enough to read from all the mom's who have already been down this road, I decided to do something else. I brought back Jaden again, last week (5 weeks earlier than appt.) and talked to him about his adenoids. I said that he is always congested, and since Jaden was sleeping, he could hear what I meant. Since Jaden hasn't had any known infections, he did say that his adenoids are definitely the reason he is breathing like that when he sleeps and that we should do a sleep study. We just set up a sleep study and after that, they will be able to determine if it's tonsils and adenoids, or just adenoids causing the snoring and contributing to congestion. So...I do understand what you are going through. I would rather them take his adenoids out now, so he can breathe better, than later, because I don't want to go through rounds of tubes, only to find out they aren't effective, like so many parents do. The Dr. said that years ago, if a child had fluid in the ears, they would automatically take out the adenoids and the problem would clear up. My Husband had his adenoids and tonsils taken out when he was 2 because of bad allergies. It's nothing to worry about, because either way it will get figured out, and I know he will feel better, just like your little Kayla! Email me if you want to exchange any info! :)

I'm sorry that she has to have surgery again! :( :(
Oh no, I am sorry you did not get the news you hoped for. I am sure she will do great as always... she is a little champ!
OH my poor little Kayla, not again :-( Well at least you know the procedure is a breeze for her, not like last August at all. Hey if you need me there for moral support you just let me know I've got plenty of leave time.
I'm sorry to hear about the tube surgery. I hope it goes well and it's the last time!!
Oh no. It's not nice taking them for tubes. We almost always get emergency tubes here. My kids have never been scheduled for them to be done, more like given 4 hours notice
