Imagination

The other day I walked into the living room to find this scene. Kayla had climbed up on the dining room table and took all the napkins with her to the living room. She then carefully placed two napkins on the floor for Elmo and her baby doll to lay on. This was their bed. She's so funny; she makes anything into a bed, or a blanket.

I also enjoy watching her with her baby dolls. I know this usually means she's mimicking us on how we interact with her, and most of it is good! Although she will occasionally fling the dolls around and we say "oh poor baby! That must have hurt!" Then she'll run over and pick the baby up, say "aaaw baby, ok? alright baby?"

When I watch her pretend play with her babies and put them down to sleep I can't help but chuckle since we pretty much do that same routine with her!

I couldn't resist taking a few video clips the other day - I know the grandparents like to see this typical day-to-day "in the life of Kayla" stuff!

Oh man can you get any more adorable kayla!!! I love these little video clips :)
BTW, your post about having night help..No, we just got some respite help till the middle of April. I talked to Homecare and she said we are on their "radar" whatever the heck that means@! So we are not a priority with them! I have no night help and havent since Dec 3 and we are not a priority! All I get is " there is a Nursing shortage..." Well DUH.. I know that..

Michelle the Grandparents aren't the only ones that enjoy wathcing Kayla's day to day antics. It sure has been awsome to watch Kayls grow and develope and go from a sweet baby to an even sweeter little girl. Thanks for sharing. This kinda stuff is the main reason I blog surf. :)

So sweet!! It is so neat to watch them grow and develop their little personalities.

Jack picked his baby doll (yes, he has a baby doll!) the other day by the ankles and said, "Tickle, tickle." I thought I'd split open from laughing so hard.

Kayla, you are just too sweet.

Oh, how I love the videos! What a great mommy she is! I love dolls even to this day. I don't get them out and play with them, but I will when I have grandbabies!

When my daughter moved in she was three and one day I saw her baby laying in the corner, then I walked down the hall and she had put another baby and a stuffed animal in the corner as well. I asked what was going on and she said, "They were all fighting and they needed a time out!" LOL!

Kid's imagination. Always a great thing.

That's why I encourage pretend play in my 3-year old and 1-year old. They're good at it.

One late afternoon, minutes after telling my 3-year old to take a nap, I found him still wide awake.

"What are you doing?" I asked. "It's time to take a nap."

My 3-year old looked at me and said, "Daddy, I'm pretending to take a nap. And you're disturbing me."

Smarty-pants.

These pictures (and the video) are soooo cute! I love when you share Kayla stories.

Snuggle Bug has a Beanie Baby bear that he likes to wrap up with his tiny baby blanket (he got a set from my aunt that included a pillow, a blanket, and a small little blanket that can be used for travel...or for wrapping up babies). He usually needs my help swaddling his "baby" but once it's done, he'll carry around his baby, holding it close against his shoulder, sometimes singing the rock-a-bye baby song to it.

And if baby falls, he'll pick up baby and say, "Are you otay?" and pat the baby on the back. :)

It's so fun to see our toddlers play house, isn't it?

Hi Michelle,
The frosting on the pancakes came out really thick and I wasn't sure how it was going to be, so by adding the milk (soy milk for us) it thinned it out and made it easier to use. It was very tasty. Thinned out it was like a glaze for doughnuts.

We all love seeing those precious videos. Thanks Michelle.
I love it that she likes to play with her dolls. I have five granddaughters, and I can't get one of them really interested in dolls. I still like dolls. Some of us just never grow up I guess:-)

Oh, I could just sit here and watch Kayla play "Mommy" all day long, she is so cute. That's so funny about her flinging the baby around and then wanting to comfort the baby! lol

awww that is so cute! I have to admit I have a bit of doll envy! My daughter just cannot get into playing with dolls. She is much more into animals (I know I should not complain or compare!) but part of me wants to witness that baby nurturing side, like Kayla!

This is too cute. I was watching as my almost 7 mo old granddaughter was "kissing" her little doll. Actually eating its face but you are so right, we are always kissing her little cheeks.

Oh, and don't forget - you are tagged ☺

Aw she is so sweet! I can remember when my oldest was putting Barney to bed in that same way! Now the youngest manages to collect every clean washcloth in the house and makes them "Barbie beach towels"...(how many towels could they need??? They're plastic!)

This was absolutely the sweetest thing, Michelle. I just loved watching this video of her. What a good mommy she is! :)

I did laugh about the part where she flings her dolls and then says, "awww baby...that must have hurt!" What a sweetheart!

Oh, and my youngest up until last year was using toilet paper for beds for her toy animals, too! :) At least yours is the pretty kind!

Thanks so much for sharing with us!

That was so great! I know the grandparents like to see the videos, but I do too!! I can't wait to show this one to Nate. He still makes sure all his stuffed animals have their own blanket and pillow. If his babies' pillow falls behind the bed (luckily all 7 of them share one pillow!) and he can't reach it he'll give them his and go without. I loved the video! I loved how Kayla was like: Oh! A book! Like she almost forgot. That was so cute. And, hey, did you move her bed?
love you!
