Grains of Gratitude

I can't believe Christmas is tomorrow and then it's all over. Wow, this month went by fast!

Here are the 5 things I'm grateful for from last week.

1. Heated seats in the van. Ok it's not that cold here. But when your van sits in the covered carport and the sun can't reach it to warm up the inside, it gets cold in there!

2. Grateful that Joe was off last week. I would have preferred the week following Christmas, but oh well. Can't be to picky when he has a week off and isn't charged leave!

3. Grateful that since Joe was off last week he was able to go with us to Kayla's gymnastics class. He doesn't get to see her in all of those type of activities.

4. The last few years we've been getting together with 2-4 families over the holidays. Seems we usually "rotate" houses. One family has Easter, another Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then New Years. It's been fun getting together since being military we don't all have family nearby. This year 2 of those families have moved to other bases. Another family went out of town. New friends we made this year (that I thought about inviting over) have her parents in town so I figured that was out. So I thought it was just going to be a nice quiet Christmas at home with the 3 of us. Then that family asked if we wanted to come over on Christmas Day; I said I didn't want to intrude with her parents being in town and she insisted it wouldn't be - they would love to have us over because they are used to big gatherings like that. So I'm grateful we'll be with friends tomorrow having a nice big dinner!

5. The enlisted spouses' group did fundraising at the BX all last week...we gift-wrapped for donations! Our group is small as it is, and most members went out of town last week, so I ended up gift-wrapping 5 nights (with help though!). Needless to say I wish we lived closer to my grandparents so I could get an adjustment from my grandfather! My back hurt each night from bending over the table wrapping gifts! But I'm grateful for all the people who wanted their gifts wrapped and were generous with their donations. We made over $500 so that was great!

I think I'd like to start joining in on the grains of gratitude starting next week. Is it on every Sunday?
Is your husband inlisted or is he an officer?

Merry Christmas!

I too appreciated this post - I love the 'grains' - mine I'm afraid would always be the same - I am grateful (and blessed) by my family, friends and kind strangers - am so glad that you can share the joys of Christmas with others - I hope you and the family had a great time.
